Although the rainbow has come to mean different things to different people, rainbows are sign of the promise God gave to Noah after The Flood. They are a sign of restoration.

Genesis 9 verses 11-17 read:

And God said, ā€œThis is the sign of the covenantĀ I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come:Ā 13Ā I have set my rainbowĀ in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.Ā 14Ā Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbowĀ appears in the clouds,Ā 15Ā I will remember my covenantĀ between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.Ā 16Ā Whenever the rainbowĀ appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenantĀ between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.ā€

17Ā So God said to Noah, ā€œThis is the sign of the covenantĀ I have established between me and all life on the earth.ā€

What a creative way to literally brighten someone’s day!
