Christian MLB Star Logan Gilbert Scores First All-Star Game

Amid his best professional season yet, Christian pitcher Logan Gilbert is set to appear in his first MLB All-Star game.
“I think I was in shock a little bit,” Gilbert told MLB.com after he learned about his roster spot. “I feel like I don’t even know if I showed any emotion. I know that’s kind of strange for me. But I don’t even know.”
“It’s just a dream come true. It’s something I’ve always dreamt of as a kid, and I was really hoping it would happen eventually and felt like I had a decent change this year,” he added.
Gilbert has had a stellar year, posting a career-high 2.94 ERA and an impressive 115 strikeouts through 19 games this season. His pitching has helped position the Seattle Mariners at the top of the American League West, three games ahead of second place.
The All-Star pitcher is a longstanding Christian who credits all of his success to the Lord. Throughout his career, he has pointed back to God, thanking Him for the success he has found.
“My relationship with Jesus has always been the most important thing in my life. Especially since a few years ago I’ve been trying to put Him first in everything in my life,” he told His Huddle in June 2021.
“My faith in Jesus gives me a sense of peace and purposes in my baseball career,” Gilbert continued. “I try to glorify God in everything that I do, and that includes the way I play. I want to be an example that points others to Him.”
Gilbert’s life verse is Galatians 2:20 which says, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer life, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” He carries this promise with him every time he steps onto the field, taking solace that Christ is with him and for him no matter what.
“Galatians 2:20 is my favorite verse because it talks about the love and sacrifice of Christ and the way our lives are transformed when we give our lives to God,” he explained.

Seattle Mariners pitcher Logan Gilbert is glorifying God as he leads his team to a division title.
“You hear things,” he told the Seattle Times last month regarding a possible trade. “It’s part of the business. I’m not too worried about it. I just kind of keep my head down and trust in God’s plan and what He’s got for me. That’s pretty much it.”
In an interview with Play4Him, Gilbert stated, “Everything I do, I’m trying to glorify God and use the talents that He’s given me on the baseball field and in life.”
“There’s a lot of uncertainty in the game, and I’ve realized that there’s a lot that’s just out of your control,” he added. “And we try so hard to have control, but I think I’m in a better spot when I recognize my dependence on God and His plan and His perfect will.”
“It’s just knowing that I’m not on my own out there,” he concluded. “There are so many Bible verses about Him being with us and Him fighting for us. Everything that I am on the field — all the strength that I have — I get from Him.”
