Chuck Norris Calls on Parents to Pray for Young Students of America

By Movieguide® Contributor

Chuck Norris recently shared how parents should pray for the young students of America.

“Our pastor recently passed along a great article by author and speaker Micah Maddox, titled, ‘10 back-to-school prayers for students.’ I couldn’t think of a greater encouragement right now for parents, grandparents, guardians and those who help students everywhere than to cite Micah’s article in its entirety,” Norris wrote in a recent essay for WND.

Maddox’s prayers for the school year include “A Prayer to See,” “A Prayer to Shine,” “A Prayer of Comfort,” “A Prayer of Confidence,” “A Prayer of Diligence,” “A Prayer of Identity,” “A Prayer of Boldness,” “A Prayer of Remembrance,” “A Prayer of Understanding” and “A Prayer of Wisdom.”

The prayers ask God to encourage students, teach them kindness and the value of hard work, ground them in their identity in Christ and comfort them when facing challenges.

“At 81 years of age, Benjamin Franklin stood to his feet and implored the framers to pray for guidance, famously declaring, ‘The longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth: that God governs in the affairs of men,’” Norris wrote. “At 83 years of age, I am also convinced of that same reality as Franklin. I am also convinced of what he said next. It’s still true for our nation today and, I would add, our public schools as well.”

The actor concluded, “Franklin continued, ‘And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? We have been assured, Sir, in the sacred writings, that ‘except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it.’”

Norris also wrote about his thoughts on increased censorship in schools in a 2014 essay for the Amarillo Globe-News.

“An open education is about presenting every side of the coin,” Norris explained. “That is why teaching about ‘intelligent design’ and religion should be an integral part of every curriculum. There is also no doubt about this: When we fear alternative views to the extent that we eliminate them, we have reduced education to nothing more than tyranny and indoctrination.”

He elaborated on the subject in a column for Mass Live that asked, “Is political correctness America’s new religion?”

“NPR reported that nearly all of the 16 districts across the country that are larger than Montgomery County Public Schools have already discarded any mention of religious holidays on their calendars,” Norris wrote. “That’s not the America our Founding Fathers created for us. That’s not unity in diversity. That’s not education but pipeline progressivism pumping out another indoctrination camp.”

Norris isn’t the only celebrity sharing their tips for a smooth back-to-school season. “Dude Dad” Taylor Calmus and his wife Heidi recently shared their back-to-school essentials. Movieguide® reported:

“Dude Dad” Taylor Calmus and wife Heidi shared their top 10 items parents need for back-to-school season.

Their first picks? Heidi pulled out a whiteboard — for keeping track of what their kids are eating for lunch and after-school snacks — while Taylor chose a megaphone “to make sure they get up on time.”

The next must-have items? Kid’s vitamins because, as Heidi explained, “you can make the most nutritious meal ever…and they still won’t eat it. So at least you know they’re getting a little bit of nutrition by getting them gummies that taste good.”

Taylor’s item was a gift for the teachers.

“Teachers have been through a lot these past couple years…if you ask me, they don’t get paid enough for it. I say, bring the teachers a gift,” he explained.
