CNN Anchor Leaves Job to Focus on Family: ‘Nobody Else Is Going To Be My Kids’ Mom’
By Movieguide® Staff
CNN anchor Christi Paul said goodbye to viewers due to her recent decision to focus on her family.
Paul said that after COVID-19 separated her from her family and became a severe case for her husband, she decided to take a step back from a career at CNN.
“It was really bad for about three-and-a-half weeks, and there were moments I thought I was going to be a single mom,” she said. “Especially when I had to take him to the ER.”
“I love this place. I am so grateful, and I’m so tired. I’m so exhausted. We’re up between 1:00 and 2:00 every Saturday and Sunday,” she said. “And I just could not be who I needed to be for my family, is what it really came down to.”
Paul’s motivation rests in her role as a mother to her children.
“Nobody else is going to be my kids’ mom,” she said. “And nobody else is going to be my husband’s wife or my parents’ children, and I need to be fully present there.”
In the past, Paul talked about her Christian faith, which helped her through abuse.
“You need to be able to see yourself how God sees you, not in a way that reflects what you have been told,” she once told CBN interview.
Paul said that she would move back to Ohio and that she accepted an undisclosed job close to family.
