Commanders QB Praises God After Hail Mary TD: ‘Nothing But God’

A tough hit last week put Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels’ playtime this week in jeopardy, but he pushed through and secured the team’s win on Sunday.

“Daniels threw for 326 yards and ran for 52,” ESPN reported, but it’s his last-second Hail Mary that has the NFL abuzz.

“Daniels scrambled around for nearly 13 seconds and heaved the ball from the Washington 35-yard line with no time on the clock,” ESPN said. “The pass tipped off the hands of Zach Ertz short of the goal line and into the waiting arms of Noah Brown, who was standing alone in the end zone, for a 52-yard Hail Mary touchdown that gave the Commanders an improbable 18-15 victory on Sunday and sent players, coaches and fans into a frenzy.”

Daniels never even saw his teammate make the catch.

“I just heard people screaming and our sideline rushing the field. That’s how I knew,” the quarterback said. “That’s kind of like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Not too many people get to experience stuff like that.”

But he knows it’s all thanks to God.

“Nothing but God, man. Nothing but God. Without Him, I didn’t even think I’d be playing this week. But all glory to God,” Daniels said after the game.

Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin said of the play, “Jayden’s kind of aiming for the tip man. We’re going to have a guy in the back end line just in case it goes over. And then we got two guys in the front ready for it…I was ready for it to be tipped forward. Noah was ready in the back. Luke [McCaffrey] was ready to the side. That ball fell right into Noah’s arms. I don’t think I’ve seen a Hail Mary fall that perfectly off of a tip drill.”
