Could This Popular NCIS Couple Be Making a Comeback?

HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA – APRIL 10: (L-R) Wilmer Valderrama, Gary Cole, Diona Reasonover, Sean Murray, Katrina Law, Brian Dietzen, and Rocky Carroll attend a salute to the NCIS universe celebrating “NCIS” “NCIS: Los Angeles” and “NCIS: Hawai’i” during the 39th Annual PaleyFest LA at Dolby Theatre on April 10, 2022 in Hollywood, California. Could NCIS’ Jimmy and Jessica rekindle their relationship? Their actors think so.

“I don’t think that [door is] shut,” Brian Dietzen, who plays medical examiner Jimmy Palmer, told TV Line. “I think that they decided to kind of close that to a semi-open door. They decided, ‘Hey, now is not the right time. So let’s figure out what other things we have going on in our lives. And you know, if something’s meant to be, it’s meant to be, and it’ll happen sometime in the future, but for right now, let’s not push for it.’”

So, could that time be now? An upcoming episode sees the NCIS team matching wits with an AI chatbot who starts asking them some personal questions.

“It’s a fun episode, and it’s gonna ask a lot of questions, and hopefully people who are wondering: Will Torres and Knight be a thing? Will Jimmy and Knight be a thing? Which way is this thing gonna go?” Dietzen, who co-wrote the episode, teased. “I wouldn’t say it answers any of those big questions, but it definitely does maybe pose a few more. It might at least show where one of those people is, out of the three, where their head’s at.”

Katrina Law, who plays Jessica, added, “I think anything is possible with anyone, to be honest. Yeah, I think she and Jimmy could make a comeback.”

Sean Murray, who plays Timothy McGee, has also weighed in on Season 23 of NCIS, telling TV Fanatic, “It just feels really good this year. We’ve got more at stake, more personal stuff for the agents. We’re really enjoying where things are going.”

Murray also touched on some of the NCISverse spin-offs, like TONY & ZIVA and ORIGINS.

“These shows have different styles,” he explained. “ORIGINS is darker, TONY & ZIVA has that fun European spy vibe. And I like that. It’s much better than having shows that try to be carbon copies.”

ORIGINS has its own relationship drama — fans are wondering if Gibbs will choose between Lala and Diane.

“We always approach these things — as they seem like huge challenges — how we’re going to write that into the tapestry of our story,” creator Gina Lucita Monreal told Us Weekly earlier this year. “But it always ends up being a plus somehow in the end figuring out how to weave these stories together. So we’re really excited to delve into this one as well.”

While NCIS always delivers the drama, fans are hopeful their favorite characters will strike up new relationships!
