Could Tom Cruise Become The First Civilian to do a Spacewalk?

Hollywood star Tom Cruise is known for doing his own death-defying stunts in movies such as recent box off hit TOPGUN:MAVERICK and the MISSION IMPOSSIBLE franchise.
However, he might be taking his stunts to new heights, literally. Cruise could to become the first civilian to do a spacewalk for his upcoming movie.
“Tom Cruise is taking us to space. He’s taking the world to space. That’s the plan,” Donna Langley, head of Universal Studios, said in a recent interview.
Although the project is “still clearly an aspiration” at this point, according to Universal, it is reportedly budgeted at $200 million, and would be the first Hollywood feature film to be shot in space, along with having the first civilian to do a spacewalk outside of the International Space Station.
Mum’s the word on any plot details other than that Cruise’s character will be “a down-on-his-luck guy who finds himself in the position of being the only person
who could save Earth,” according to Langley.
The TOP GUN star and director Doug Liman pitched the idea for the movie during the pandemic to Langley, and will be teaming up with NASA and SpaceX.
“When a producer proposes something crazy to you, like, let’s try to shoot a movie in outer space, and NASA and SpaceX sign on, and Tom Cruise signs on… you’re just a little bit more receptive,” Liman said.
If Cruise’s new movie promotes patriotic and moral values that TOP GUN: MAVERICK did, there’s always a strong chance that one of Hollywood’s most prolific actors might have another blockbuster on his hands. Movieguide® has reported previously how the movie’s success showed that people are more hungry for uplifting content than those with a more progressive agenda.
TOP GUN: MAVERICK has been blowing up the box office, garnering more than $800 million worldwide. This massive take off makes it Tom Cruise’s highest-grossing movie ever, beating out other popular franchises like MISSION IMPOSSIBLE.
Half of that $800 million comes from the domestic box office, where the movie scooped up $422.2 million.
TOP GUN: MAVERICK is currently the highest grossing movie in America, proving that audiences will happily turn out for a movie that touts strong values, opposed to the progressive agenda of LIGHTYEAR, which had a dismal opening weekend.
