Dallas Jenkins, creator and director of the biblical-based drama THE CHOSEN, offered fans a first look at what’s ahead for the series.
While at ChosenCon 2026 in Charlotte, North Carolina, he confirmed that Season 6 of THE CHOSEN is set to follow the dramatic arc fans have been anticipating: reaching the final days of Jesus’ earthly life and culminating in his crucifixion.
“The finale of Season 6 is essentially a supersized episode that is going to be released as a theatrical global event all over the world in dozens of languages all at once. Season 6 is the biggest season we’ve ever done without a close second,” he said. “It took the longest to film by far. The visual effects, the translations especially, take at least two to three times longer than any season we’ve ever done.”
Because of the complexity of this season, Jenkins revealed the release approach will be slightly different from earlier seasons. Episodes 1-6 will release exclusively on Prime Video this fall, while the finale will premiere globally in theaters in the spring of 2027 in multiple languages.

“For the first time ever, we’re releasing Episodes 1-6 to streaming and then the finale in theaters in all of these languages at the same time. So the translation takes some time,” Jenkins said. “I just ask for your continued grace and patience. It will be worth it, but this is a season that took a lot out of us.”
Another project in the works is THE CHOSEN IN THE WILD WITH BEAR GRYLLS, which will premiere either summer or fall 2026. JOSEPH OF EGYPT, THE CHOSEN Season 7, BOOK OF MOSES and WAY OF THE CHOSEN are also on the docket, though release dates have not been announced.
Austin Reed Alleman, who plays Nathaniel in the series, shared some behind-the-scenes clips from three days, including a special moment where Jenkins announced that they would show episode 1 of Season 6 at the event.
People in the comment section appreciated the inside look of the event.
“This is so cool 😎!! Thank you for sharing this BTS with us!!” one person said. Another fan added, “It was so awesome for my wife to meet you, and to experience episode 1. Thank you !! 🥰”
Season 5 of THE CHOSEN premiered last year and was fittingly called THE CHOSEN: LAST SUPPER. Movieguide®’s review of Part One reads, “THE CHOSEN: LAST SUPPER – PART ONE is very entertaining. The actors do a wonderful job. Also, the cinematography is beautiful, particularly during the Last Supper scenes where candle lighting highlights just how somber of a moment this is for Jesus.”
Movieguide® notes, “LAST SUPPER – PART ONE is extremely biblical. Nearly every event comes straight from the gospels and is faithfully portrayed. THE CHOSEN: LAST SUPPER – PART ONE strongly stresses Jesus Christ’s divinity and the need for his vicarious death, while also highlighting his message of salvation. The scenes where Jesus cleanses the Temple are intense but dramatically powerful.”
Filming for THE CHOSEN Season 7 will begin this spring.
