Danica McKellar, Jen Lilley, Lara Silva Reflect on Importance of Easter

Some of Great American Family’s stars are sharing their favorite Easter memories.

“I’ve always loved spending Easter with a big family brunch, egg hunts for the kids, etc,” Danica McKellar said. “But Easter became much more significant to me in 2022, when I had the incredible experience of becoming a believer.”

She continued, “This Palm Sunday marks two years since I started my faith journey, and I’m forever grateful!”

McKellar has spoken about how she came to faith through her friendship with Candace Cameron Bure. Movieguide® previously reported:

“Fast forward many years,” the WONDER YEARS actress shared. “I’m in my 40s now…my friend Candace Cameron Bure brought me into church.”

It started when McKellar messaged Bure on Instagram after seeing her friend post messages about God’s forgiveness. Bure asked if she could send McKellar a Bible. McKellar said yes but admitted she “didn’t really open it.”

“Fast forward to Palm Sunday…I went to church with her,” she continued. “We saw this Passion Play, and it…just got right in. I like to say, ‘I don’t know what happened,” but my dad says, ‘The Holy Spirit entered you, that’s what happened.’”

“Everything I always thought about there being some higher power and wanting to do the right thing, just because it’s the right thing, when no one’s watching, why that matters, and it all just came into focus. And I feel so blessed,” she told Fox News.

Jen Lilley said watching the Passion play is an important part of her Easter celebration. It reminds her of “how great the Father’s heart for us is that before the foundation of the world was laid He already knew Jesus would die for us to redeem us.”

“I am so incredibly undone when I think of the kindness and mercy of God,” she continued. “The yielding and servant’s heart of Jesus. And the power and grace and mighty counsel of the Holy Spirit.”

THE CHOSEN star Lara Silva singled out the Easter of 2016 as particularly memorable, as it was the year she was baptized.

“I had been thinking about it for months and when I realized that Christ was baptized to identify with us, I knew I had to be as well to identify with HIM!” she wrote. “The meaning of Easter truly lived in me after that.”

Silva previously spoke about her faith journey, sharing that she “didn’t grow up with a strong faith. I didn’t have a relationship with Jesus.”

In her 20s, she accepted Jesus as her Savior and says her faith and her acting career are intertwined.

“It was a connection for me,” she told Faithwire. “I can’t tell one without the other, like I can’t tell my acting journey without Jesus and vice versa; I can’t tell my testimony without realizing that my passion and love and gift that He gave me. … He spoke to me, like, ‘I’m gonna help you.’”

DIVINE INFLUENCER star Lara Silva opened up about how acting and her faith journey are connected.

“When I found my faith was when I found my passion for acting,” she told Movieguide® at the Movieguide® Awards red carpet. “And I know that God placed that in my heart and [let] it lie dormant until he was ready for me to feel it and see it when I started seeking Him.”

“So I cannot tell my story of how I got into acting without telling my story about God and finding him and how it all clicked for me,” Silva added.
