Christian Artist Urges Believers to Consider This Ahead of 2024 Elections

By Movieguide® Contributor

Christian artist Danny Gokey took to Instagram to encourage his followers amid this election season.

“Election season is right around the corner, and Christians, it’s not time for us to shrink back and hide,” he said in an Instagram video. “It’s time for us to stand up and vote and vote for Christian principles. Now some of you might be saying, ‘Wait, I don’t even see God in this election.’”

Gokey believes that no matter what it looks like, God is still working in this election.

“Oh, He’s doing more than you can think or imagine, and as the church begins to pray, as they begin to vote Christian principles, as they get on their knees and begin to ask the Father to intervene, we’re going to see God do some great things, but don’t shrink back. It’s time to be brave and use our voices,” he said.

Gokey then commented on the reality of the choice America faces.

“Things I’m noticing in this election: One candidate will open wide the door to evil in our land. The other candidate will hold it back. Here’s how — One will open the door wide to the mass killing of babies in the womb. The other will limit it greatly,” he explained in the comment section.

He continued, “One believes in…[limitless] genders. The other believes in Gods design of male and female. One believes the constitution needs to be rewritten concerning 1st and second amendment. One upholds the constitution.”

Gokey concluded by explaining that voting for someone doesn’t mean we love them or put all of our hope in them. It simply means that we are standing up for the values that they stand for.

“Here’s What I’m not saying is— The candidate I’m voting for is a Christian hero. Is my pastor. Is my Valentine. Is perfect. Is my sweetheart. I’m simply saying Christian principles is the most important thing we can vote for this election. And with the two candidates on the ballot box, one will open the door to evil and one will hold it back.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Gokey’s vocal pro-life stance:

Christian singer Danny Gokey said that while he preaches an adamant pro-life message, he also wants to encourage post-abortive women that there is hope.

“I am pro-baby and pro-mama, 100% of the way,” Gokey said in a video published by Live Action. “If you’re watching this and you’ve had an abortion, know this: that you are loved, you are accepted and you have a place at the table — and Jesus’ blood can wash away that wound and scar.”

In the video, Gokey notes that 2,363 babies are aborted each day in America, amounting to 860,000 per year.

“I believe that, with God’s help, that we can fight for life, and fight for freedom for these babies,” Gokey said.

He’s also vocal about his love for America, even releasing an EP titled Brave last year that celebrates this great country.

“If you’re a Democrat, Republican, conservative, liberal, red, yellow, blue, black white – it’s OK to say you love this great country,” Gokey said in an Instagram video. “… God has a purpose for our country and He’s not through with us yet, so let’s be part of the light that solves problems and not create problems.”

“In the title track Brave, Gokey urges the listener to ‘be brave; stand up for freedom, stand for truth,” Crosswalk Headlines described. “The song My America acknowledges the nation’s trials but says, ‘This is not the end. I still believe in us, oh America.’ He describes it as a ‘lament with hope at the end.’ The third song on the EP is a cover of Lee Greenwood’s God Bless the USA.”
