ABC renewed four unscripted series — CELEBRITY WHEEL OF FORTUNE, SHARK TANK, AMERICAN IDOL and AMERICA’S FUNNIEST HOME VIDEOS.
ABC announced the news on Friday. It recently renewed BACHELOR IN PARADISE, CELEBRITY FAMILY FEUD, DANCING WITH THE STARS, THE GOLDEN BACHELOR and WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE.
Pat Sajak hosted CELEBRITY WHEEL OF FORTUNE but is stepping away for the upcoming sixth season. ABC hasn’t announced who the new host is, but it’s likely WHEEL OF FORTUNE’s new host, Ryan Seacrest. While a release date hasn’t been confirmed, the new season would likely premiere next year.
SHARK TANK’s next season will be Season 17. The show posted on Instagram Friday, “More deals in the Tank = an irresistible offer 🤝 #SharkTank will be back for another season on ABC & Hulu!”
The show’s 16th season will finish with its 20th episode next week. The reality show features contestants with interesting businesses as they pitch to mega business tycoons Barbara Corcoran, Mark Cuban, Lori Greiner, Robert Herjavec, Daymond John, Kevin O’Leary and Daniel Lubetzky. Season 16 featured guest sharks Todd Graves, Jamie Kern Lima, Rashaun Williams and Kendra Scott.
AMERICA’S FUNNIEST HOME VIDEOS shared its renewal announcement on Instagram Friday: “Keep the laughs coming. #AFV returns for another season!”
The new season will be the show’s 36th season. It will be Alfonso Ribeiro’s 5th season as the show’s host. Last year, he explained why the show is a hit with families.
“We’re making people laugh, and that’s all we’re supposed to do,” Ribeiro said. “On Sunday nights, you wanna be able to sit in the house, hang out with your grandmother, with your kids…We get more videos than we’ve ever gotten before.”

“I think people really love the animal videos,” Ribeiro continued. “You know that no one set that video up, they’re just capturing their pets and animals doing what they do.”
Last month, ABC revealed it is launching a new version of MATCH GAME with Martin Short on July 23. Deadline reported that the last version, hosted by Alec Baldwin, aired four years ago. The show originally launched in 1962 and ran until 1969. ABC aired a reboot from 2016 to 2021, for five seasons. On the show, four contestants compete for $25,000 by matching the answers of six celebrities in a fill-in-the-blank game.
DWTS Season 34 will feature Robert Irwin, whose older sister, Bindi, won the Mirrorball Trophy in Season 21 with dance partner Derek Hough.
Variety reported that ABC recently renewed scripted shows, 9-1-1, ABBOTT ELEMENTARY, HIGH POTENTIAL, GREY’S ANATOMY, THE ROOKIE, SHIFTING GEARS and WILL TRENT. It also ordered 9-1-1 spinoff, 9-1-1: NASHVILLE. It hasn’t announced yet whether DOCTOR ODYSSEY will be renewed.
