DUCK DYNASTY’s Jep Robertson Shares His Prodigal Son Story
Jep Robertson is the youngest brother under the Duck Commander, Phil Robertson’s clan. In high school, he struggled with drug abuse that eventually got out of control. Still going through the motions, it took awhile for his father to notice something was wrong. When he did, Phil and his family sat Jep down to show him that they cared and did not want him continuing down this path.
Phil gave his son the ultimatum. Stay with the family or continue on his own. In tears, Jep admitted his wrong and accepted God’s grace. “I just prayed to God, ‘Thank you for getting me out of this because I am done living the way I’ve been living.’ I remember dad saying, ‘My prodigal son has returned.’ And it was one of the best days of my life,” Jep recalls.
Many know the story of the Prodigal Son found in the Bible in Luke 15. The father gladly welcoming his son back home is the ultimate example of how God the Father forgives us of our sins and welcomes us into His Kingdom, through His Son. Jep Robertson is a real-life example of that wonderful and powerful grace.
