Dwayne Johnson Calls Being a Dad ‘The Greatest Thing Ever’

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson says being a “girl dad” is the “greatest thing.”

“It’s the greatest thing ever,” Johnson said during an episode of THE DREW BARRYMORE SHOW.

Johnson shares Simone, 22, with ex-wife Dany Garcia, and Jasmine, 8, and Tia, 5, with wife Lauren Hashian.

He continued, “I feel like I had a real complicated relationship with my dad. So I came in hard-wired into the world, complicated relationship with my dad, led me to the best of his capacity, which was limited, and I understand that. But my mom was such a strong influenc,e and I had all these women who raised me who were strong women.”

Johnson has previously spoken about what being a dad to three daughters has taught him, telling PEOPLE the most important lesson is to “just be there.”

“You can be wired, as a lot of fathers are, to fix things,” he continued. “Just having an expanded capacity to listen and be more tender and gentle really gave me that ability to solve whatever the issue is, but with them compared to for them.”

Despite his busy schedule as an actor and entrepreneur, Johnson always prioritizes his children.

“I think I’ve reached a point in my life where I can create my own schedule, which has really been nice, because it wasn’t always that way, and I’m really lucky,” he told PEOPLE. “And I think, in the spirit of creating my own schedule, it allows me to get closer to the girls and where they’re around every corner they’re with me.”

He continued, “My office at the house is Daddy Central, where they’re always hanging out, so they’re always privy to all the stuff that’s going on.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Johnson’s commitment to family:

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is one of the highest-grossing stars at the box office, but the actor has revealed his most important job is being a father.

Johnson has three daughters — Simone, 21, Jasmine, 7, and Tiana, 4.

“My number one priority is my daughters,” Johnson said in a recent interview. “Sure, CEO sounds great! But the number one thing I want to be is daddy. That’s it.”

He speaks from experience. Johnson still remembers everything he missed out on in Simone’s life while he was traveling for work with WWE.

“I know what it was like to be on the road and be so busy that I was absent for a lot of years when my first daughter was growing up in this critical age at this critical time in her life,” he shared, pointing to that as his main reason for prioritizing fatherhood.
