Elisabeth Hasselbeck became a household name for her staunch conservative beliefs when she became a host on THE VIEW and later had appearances on FOX AND FRIENDS. For Hasselbeck, her time in the spotlight really convicted her about humility.

Hasselbeck was born into a loving and faithful family, who taught her resilience, humility and love for others.

“They loved well. They were forgiving,” she recalls.

It was a firm faith-based foundation, one she depended on when she joined THE VIEW alongside Whoopie Goldberg, Rosie O’Donald and Joy Behar.

Hasselbeck became known for her heated debates with her co-hosts, as she was the only conservative host.

Hasselbeck’s most notable debates were on abortion and Iranian violence, both of which became highly emotional.

During one debate, she was told to calm down on live TV, for which she threatened to quit.

The moment really affected Hasselbeck’s heart, as she was obsessed with “being right about things.”

She even labeled herself as a “right-aholic,” and began to pray to the Lord about how she should interact with others.

“Make [me] wrong enough,” Hasselbeck says she prayed, “Not holding onto pride and not forfeiting Your Truth, which is [God’s] Word, but wrong enough to hear the other person.”

Hasselbeck left THE VIEW in 2016, the same year she was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called Celiac. People with Celiac disease cannot eat gluten, as it damages the small intestine.

During this time, she really took Scripture to heart as she worked to take care of her body.

“This is God’s body,” Hasselbeck said. “We try to treat it as a temple.”

Hasselbeck later joined FOX AND FRIENDS for a brief time before leaving to spend more time with her family.

On her last day, she said, “It’s time for my children and family to get the best of me, not the rest of me.”
