Amazon’s upcoming faith-based series IT’S NOT LIKE THAT has completed casting for its core characters.

“Caleb Baumann (PARISH), Cary Christopher (DAYS OF OUR LIVES), and newcomers Leven Miranda, Cassidy Paul and Liv Lendell joining as series regulars,” Deadline reported, adding that they will join leads Erinn Hayes, Scott Foley and J.R. Ramirez.

The young cast celebrated their roles in the show, with Miranda posting the Deadline article announcing her casting with the caption “:).”

“Be there or be square,” Baumann wrote, while Paul posted an Instagram story with the caption, “So excited to share…”

IT’S NOT LIKE THAT will be distributed by Amazon MGM Studios.

An official description of the show reads, “Lori is freshly divorced with two teens. Malcolm’s a minister and recently widowed dad of three. Their families once did everything together, but now Lori and Malcolm must navigate their newly minted singledom, parenthood and the complexities of Malcolm being a modern-day minister. Is this the beginning of a love story? It’s not like that. Or is it?”

Foley will play Malcolm, while Hayes will play Lori. Foley’s most recent credits include Netflix romance LA DOLCE VILLA, as well as popular crime drama WILL TRENT.

Ian Deitchman and Kristin Robinson are IT’S NOT LIKE THAT’s creators and showrunners. Their previous credits include AS WE SEE IT, CARNIVAL ROW, ORDINARY JOE, ALMOST FAMILY and THE BOLD TYPE. The pair also wrote for popular drama PARENTHOOD.

IT’S NOT LIKE THAT is the latest show Amazon has greenlit from Wonder Project. The streamer also distributed HOUSE OF DAVID.

Wonder Project was launched in 2023 with the goal of creating faith-based content.

“Our mission is to tell courageous stories that restore faith and things worth believing,” the company’s CEO, Kelly Merryman Hoogstraten, told Axios. “I love this idea of restoring faith, and that can be in God, but it can also be in country and in family and entrepreneurs and coaches and teachers.”

Hoogstraten continued, “I think one of the things that’s happened over the course of the last few years is that there have been a number of films and TV series that have come out, whether that’s THE CHOSEN or JESUS REVOLUTION or SOUND OF FREEDOM, that gave you a sense that this is a broad story that lots of people are interested in.”

Fans of faith-based content are excited to see what IT’S NOT LIKE THAT has in store!
