SHARK TANK veteran Mark Cuban is finally stepping away after 14 seasons — and it’s all to spend more time with his kids.

The dad of three said, “It was time to move on.”

“My kids are teenagers and I want to spend more time with them,” he explained. “We always shoot in June and September, and in June, right when they’re finishing school, I have to come here. When they were young it was like, ‘Okay, we’re going to wait for Dad.’”

“Now that they’re teenagers, they aren’t waiting for Dad at all, and in September they’ve just gotten back to school. I want to be there for that,” the former Dallas Mavericks owner said.

His eldest child is in college, and he’s realizing that he’s already missed out on some time with his older kids.

“My daughter’s in college now. When they were all in high school, all their schedules aligned,” he explained. “And so it was really easy to do the show. But now, you know, family first, always. And so I wanted to try to make sure I spent as much time with my daughter as I can, and my family as I can.”

He will miss working with his co-sharks: Daymond John, Barbara Corcoran, Robert Herjavec, Lori Greiner and Kevin O’Leary.

“The deals are always out there, but I’ll miss the people and I’ll miss having an impact just from the show itself because we send a message every day that the American dream is alive and well,” he shared.

John spoke highly of Cuban when he departed. He told him, “…You didn’t blink. You said: ‘If this show is helping educate and inspire America’s kids and families, I’m in.’ And for over 14 years, you’ve been all in.”

“You’ve invested in dreams, mentored future legends, and showed the world what it looks like to build empires while giving back,” he continued. “It’s the end of your run on SHARK TANK, but your impact? That’s forever. 💪🏾

Cuban still has his ventures and just launched a $750 million private equity fund that has stakes in NBA, NFL and MLB franchises. The firm is called Harbinger Sports Partners. Rashaun Williams is a limited partner, and recently retired vice chairman and former CEO of AMB Sports and Entertainment, Steve Cannon, will be a partner, Yahoo! Finance reported.

“The professional sports sector is maturing into an institutional-quality asset class,” Williams said in a statement. “Harbinger will be structured to operate within league frameworks while offering long-term capital, operational fluency, and a responsible ownership mindset.”

It’s great that Cuban is choosing more flexible ventures to make more time for his kids.
