SHARK TANK’s Mark Cuban Reveals Goal for His Kids: ‘Healthy and Happy’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Entrepreneur and businessman Mark Cuban recently shared that he will be proud of his children whether or not they want to make it big in the business world like him.
Cuban spoke with Kevin Hart on his show, HART TO HEART, and shared a little about his kids.
“My son, Jake, he’s hustling and selling stuff all the time. My middle daughter, Alyssa, is 16, and she’s kind of the artist. Then my oldest, Alexis, is kind of — she’s got the world in front of her, wherever she decides to go. She’s a freshman in college,” Cuban said.
“I just want them healthy and happy,” he added.
However, Jake, Cuban’s youngest son, might follow in his dad’s footsteps. Cuban joked, saying that his son is “a little me” and all about “the hustle of being an entrepreneur.”
“So like two weeks ago, he shows me his spreadsheet because he’s buying candy and selling it at school, right? But he couldn’t go pick up the candy where he wanted to pick it up because his sister wouldn’t take him,” Cuban explained.
“So he wanted to use DoorDash, and he was like, ‘Does the $16 for DoorDash count as the cost of my goods sold?”
“My smile got so big,” Cuban shared, saying it was an opportunity for him to share what he loves to do with his son.
Cuban owns the Dallas Mavericks, an NBA team. He purchased the Mavericks in 2000 and has since been actively involved in the team’s management and operations. Under his ownership, the Mavericks won their first NBA championship in 2011.
In addition to his sports ventures, Cuban is a highly successful businessman. He co-founded Broadcast.com, an internet radio company, which Yahoo! later acquired. Cuban used the proceeds from the sale of Broadcast.com to further invest in various tech startups and companies.
As a television personality, Cuban is one of the “sharks” on the popular TV show SHARK TANK, where he and other successful entrepreneurs listen to business pitches and decide whether to invest in the presented companies.
Movieguide® previously reported on Cuban:
According to the Houston Chronicle, Cuban’s pharmacy “bypass[es] the middlemen” and does not pay spread prices to third-party pharmacy benefit managers. Instead, the pharmacy works directly with drug manufacturers and other pharmacies. Cuban’s company also only accepts cash, eliminating potential markups for consumers relying on their insurance.
“If you don’t have insurance or have a high deductible plan, you know that even the most basic medications can cost a fortune,” Cuban’s mission statement reads. “Many people are spending crazy amounts of money each month just to stay healthy. No American should have to suffer or worse – because they can’t afford basic prescription medications.”
Alex Oshmyansky, CEO of Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug, added: “There are numerous bad actors in the pharmaceutical supply chain preventing patients from getting affordable medicines. The only way to ensure affordable prices get through is to vertically integrate.”
“We will do whatever it takes to get affordable pharmaceuticals to patients,” Oshmyansky continued. “The markup on potentially lifesaving drugs that people depend on is a problem that can’t be ignored. It is imperative that we take action and help expand access to these medications for those who need them most.”
