Never fear, for KING & COUNTRY fans — the band plans to end their hiatus this Christmas!
“We were in London…when we said, ‘What if we take a year off touring?’” band member Joel Smallbone told the Christian Post of their time off. “I said to [Luke, his brother and band mate] the other day, I think we’re going to look back on this time away and recognize it was one of the most important things we ever did as a duo, just recalibrating.”
Now, the brothers are preparing to take the stage again with “A Drummer Boy Christmas: The Live Experience.” They will perform in a handful of cities throughout December, capping the tour with a five-night residency at the Grand Ole Opry House. This will be the longest residency ever held at the concert venue.
In a joint statement about the concert series, the Smallbones said, “To celebrate the miracle of all miracles, God coming to earth and offering redemption, and experiencing it together, makes this our favorite tour of the year. We can’t wait to see you all this December.”
“It’s like this grand reset every year,” Smallbone said of for KING & COUNTRY’s annual Christmas concerts. “That there is forgiveness, redemption, love, hope, and joy and that there is this baby that literally flips the world on its head…it’s pivotal to our humanity.”

He explained that the band hopes their holiday shows will unite people and promote their Christian faith, reaching people around the world.
“This is not a club. It’s an invitation,” Smallbone shared. “We’re telling a story that is good news for everyone.”
Last year, for KING & COUNTRY released a concert movie of their “Drummer Boy Christmas” show.
“We thought to ourselves, how could we bring the Christmas tour to everybody all at once?” Luke said in an interview with Songwriter Universe. “We filmed the movie UNSUNG HERO and we thought…what if we were to take that same crew and bring them to a concert and film the concert?”
He added, “The vision was to be able to bring what we do to the people as seamlessly as possible….Our hope was to bring a front row view to the concert, and in theaters you’ve got a great sound system. You’re getting the greatest viewpoint that exists. Live concerts are expensive, and we wanted to give a cost-effective way to experience the concert and make a Christmas memory with your family.”
for KING & COUNTRY fans can’t wait for this year’s round of Christmas shows — and to see the band get back to live performances!
