Fox’s THE FAITHFUL just added some major star power to its cast with Minnie Driver, Jeffrey Donovan and Natacha Karam joining the series.
“Sarah [played by Driver] feels incomplete without the child that has been promised to her and her husband, Abraham [Donovan], by God,” an official synopsis of the first installment of the six-part series stated.
It continued, “After braving isolation, famine, the ire of Pharaoh, and several more years of barrenness, she resorts to her own plan to bring a child into the world involving her maidservant Hagar [Karam] and Abraham. However, jealousy soon sets in after Hagar gives birth to Ishmael (from whose lineage the Islamic religion traces its roots). Then a miracle happens…And personal freedoms are at odds with long-held grievances and shattered love.”
Driver, an Academy Award-nominated actress, has previously starred in hit movies like GOOD WILL HUNTING, TARZAN, ELLA ENCHANTED and THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, as well as TV shows like MODERN FAMILY and EMILY IN PARIS.
Donovan’s previous credits include lead roles on BURN NOTICE, FARGO and the LAW & ORDER reboot, while Karam starred in 9-1-1: LONE STAR.
Karam celebrated her casting in an Instagram story, writing, “Excited for this one.” She also posted about THE FAITHFUL, with the caption, “Grateful.”

THE FAITHFUL is set to premiere March 22, 2026 on Fox, with the final installment airing on Easter Sunday. Each episode will tell the story of one of the Old Testament’s most important women: Sarah and her servant Hagar, Sarah’s great-niece Rebekah, and Rebekah’s nieces, sisters Leah and Rachel.
“THE FAITHFUL follows the Old Testament’s heroic, biblical matriarchs and opens a new lane of storytelling at Fox. This show is the definition of strong, female character-driven storytelling, exploring timeless themes that originated thousands of years ago, yet remain startlingly modern and relatable,” Fox Television Network president Michael Thorn said in a statement.
Thorn praised executive producers Carol Mendelsohn, Julie Weitz and Rene Echevarria for bringing “unbelievable depth, dimension, intimacy and surprise to stories so many think they know but will completely rediscover through this powerful new lens.” Echevarria will also serve as writer and showrunner for THE FAITHFUL.
THE FAITHFUL is part of a first-look broadcast deal Mendelsohn signed with Fox in 2022.
With this star-studded cast for the first episode of THE FAITHFUL, it’s safe to say more major Hollywood actors will show up in the next installments. We can’t wait!
