Gabby Barrett and Cade Foehner met as contestants on AMERICAN IDOL in 2018 and got married the next year, when Barrett was 19, and some people don’t like that.
Barrett just shared a song about the criticism on her social media this month called “Young.”
“I got married when I was 19,” she said. “I never released this song. It’s called ‘Young.’ So here you go.”
She sings in the video:
Young, everyone says we’re too young / Supposed to be single and dancing with strangers, waiting on tables / Just starting out, having fun. They say we should just take our time, slow it down / But I didn’t mean to need you like the air that I’m breathing / Baby, you didn’t plan on me now.

Her husband agreed in the comments.
He said, “It’s the ride of a lifetime.”
“We thought, ‘What’s the point in waiting years and years if we already know we’re going to be committed to each other forever?’ So may forever start now,” Barrett told PEOPLE in 2019. “It is a blessing to find a husband or wife in this life. Marriage is a profound and special thing, and we are so excited to finally be husband and wife.”
She and Foehner brought God into their relationship from the start.
“We’re both excited to make such a serious and holy commitment before the Lord, with our friends and family there to support us and celebrate,” Barrett said ahead of their wedding day. “Becoming one family has been the thing we’ve looked forward to most.”
Barrett previously revealed that she had a crush on Foehner first.
“I had to get to know him first,” she said. “So the thing was, I saw him originally. He has a really cool look, my husband.”
“He has lots of hair, just [a] super-cool rocker dude, and I wanted to make a video with him of us singing together. And so I initiated it,” she said. “I didn’t think he liked me at first but then he texted me, and I was like, ‘Oh, I see what’s going on here.’ So it was a mutual thing, but I went after him first.”
The couple will celebrate seven years of marriage together this October.
