Google Unblocks Access to Truth Social, Trump’s Twitter Alternative, on Google Play Store

Google recently made Truth Social, a social media app alternative to Twitter backed by former U.S. President Donald Trump, available on the Google Play Store.
Previously, Google blocked the app over alleged violent content on Truth Social.
Google said that the change came after Truth Social presented sufficient evidence of an effective strategy to “moderate user-generated content and remove objectionable posts such as those that incite violence.”
Movieguide® previously reported of the Truth Social app:
Former U.S. President Donald Trump officially launched his new social media platform, Truth Social, on Apple’s App Store in America.
“What makes Truth Social different!? We are a social media platform that is free from political discrimination. Join us and share, communicate, and have fun!” the app’s description reads.
The app went live on Feb. 20, at around midnight, and automatically downloaded to users’ phones who pre-ordered Truth Social.
Trump announced plans to launch a social media alternative after Twitter and Facebook banned his accounts following the Jan. 6 Capitol Hill riots.
In a previous February announcement, Trump emphasized Truth Social’s safety features. The app also forces users to enter their date of birth and does not allow minors to use the platform.
Despite its place as the No. 1 app on Apple’s app store shortly after launch, Truth Social saw a recent rise in popularity among Android users.
“With its inclusion in the Google Play Store, Truth Social can now be accessed across all devices in the United States,” Devin Nunes, CEO of Trump Media & Technology Group, said. “Today marks a significant milestone in our mission to restore free speech online.”
