Great American Media Launches Great American Pure Flix After Merger
By Movieguide® Staff
Great American Media has relaunched its streaming platform as Great American Pure Flix, following the network’s merger with Sony’s Pure Flix in June.
“Great American Pure Flix fits seamlessly with the Great American Media family,” said Bill Abbott, President and CEO of Great American Media. “Our mission is to provide families with quality entertainment that celebrates faith, family, and hometown values wherever and however they enjoy watching.”
Great American Pure Flix is now “the 24/7 companion to Great American Family with uplifting films and series.”
“Our family is getting bigger! More original movies. More faith & family. More inspirational stories,” Pure Flix revealed on Instagram.
The combined service announced a slate of new movies that will hit the platform in the coming months.
DIVINE INFLUENCER will star Lara Silva from THE CHOSEN and is directed by Shari Rigby. The movie premieres September 15.
HARVEST HOMECOMING will arrive on the streaming service on October 6, starring Trevor Donovan and Jessica Lowndes.
BIRTHRIGHT OUTLAW stars Lucas Black and Sarah Drew in a Western directed by Aaron Burns. It lands on the platform on October 13.
New Christmas movies will begin streaming in November, featuring Great American stars like Candace Cameron Bure, Lori Loughlin, Danica McKellar, Trevor Donovan and Jen Lilley.
“We have plenty of room to develop more dramatic programming, more lifestyle content, more mysteries, different things in different genres that if you’re approaching a streaming service, you can pick and choose what you want to watch,” Abbot told Deadline about Great American Pure Flix’s future.
“Family-friendly entertainment remains an important segment of the industry, and merging these two entities will create the greatest opportunity to achieve more scale for Pure Flix as it continues to build its subscriber base,” Ravi Ahuja, Chairman of Global Television Studios and Corporate Development for Sony Pictures, said, per Deadline.
“Bill and the Great American Media team have been successfully leading the Great American Family and Great American Living brands, and we believe they have a winning plan to take Pure Flix to even greater heights,” he continued.
Movieguide® previously reported on the merger:
Pure Flix and Great American Media have completed their previously announced merger, combining Great American Media’s family-friendly, wide-reaching channels with Pure Flix’s faith and family catalog.
“The merger marks a significant milestone for our company, our employees, our business partners and our fans as we take an important step in our mission to become the leader in trusted, faith and family entertainment for a large and underserved market,” said Great American Media CEO Bill Abbot.
“We are extremely excited that Sony Pictures has chosen to partner with us, and we look forward to combining these two dynamic organizations to accelerate Great American Media’s growth strategy,” he continued.
