HGTV Star Spreads Message of Gratitude: ‘Stand Firm in Love and the Faithfulness of God’

FIXER TO FABULOUS star Jenny Marrs encouraged family, friends and fans alike to be thankful.
Marrs shared the struggle to choose gratitude over other emotions on her Instagram after her conversation with her friend Peter Thompson.
“A photographer friend was in town this week and shared some words of wisdom with us (I’m paraphrasing): whatever you do today, make the choice to really LOVE it. Dont just suffer through. Choose to be grateful for whatever it is that lies before you,” she recalled in a recent Instagram post.
“It’s all in the choosing. We can choose to feel panic or despair (particularly when confronted with so much suffering around the world right now) or we can choose to stand firm in love and the faithfulness of God,” she added.
Marrs also shared that God calls us to gratitude regardless of circumstance.
“For me, today, I am looking back on photos of our time away this summer and am choosing to be grateful for a season of rest that prepared us for our current season of jam-packed calendars. For each season, whether in abundance or drought, I can choose to be grateful,” she said. “Choosing gratitude changes perspective and allows us to open ourselves up to joy, regardless of our circumstances. Happy Sunday, friends. What are you grateful for today?”
Movieguide® previously reported on Marrs’ faith:
Instead of announcing a resolution with the start of the new year, FIXER TO FABULOUS’ Jenny Marrs committed her 2021 to prayer.
“At the start of each year, rather than crafting New Year’s resolutions, which are based on my own will-power and grit, I spend time recording prayers for the coming year,” Marrs wrote on Instagram.
The HGTV star hosts alongside her husband, Dave, as they renovate homes in Arkansas. Jenny and Dave parent 1-year-old Luke, 5-year-old Charlotte, 7-year-old Sylvie, and twin boys Nathan and Ben, 9.
“Through the process, I often find myself drawn to a specific verse that I pray over my family throughout the year,” Marrs said. “My 2021 verse is recorded in two books, which feels significant in and of itself: ‘As for God, his way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection. {2 Samuel 22:31 & Psalm 18:30}’”
“This verse led to my word for the year: Shield,” Marrs added. “I love the imagery of God being our shield against the fiery arrows of the enemy. Against harsh words and lies and physical harm.”
