Evangelist Nick Vujicic shared the four things he does to conquer depression, from appreciating your blessings to sharing your troubles with loved ones.
“I went through a depression for around four or five years, between ages 8 and 12, and I never thought that God would really do something beautiful with the broken pieces that I can see,” he said during an episode of TBN’s PRAISE.
Vujicic continued, “I think the four things that I’ve done to get out of depression is number one, really be thankful for what I had…the second thing is taking one day at a time.”
“It’s so easy to get so overwhelmed and even exaggerate your fear because of the unknowns, and to balance that out, you have to sort of just take a step back [and] take one day at a time,” he explained. “God gives us strength for the next day.”
The next thing Vujicic recommended? Talking to somebody.
“If [I] never told somebody what was really going on, [if] I never counseled with anybody, never ask for help, I wouldn’t be who I am today, and I give all the glory to God,” he shared. “He is my greatest counselor.”
He has previously spoken about the importance of seeking counseling during times of hardship, telling CBN News, “We’ve got Christians who are saved, bleeding on their way to their graves.”
“I personally have gone through counseling and I have counseled many people; we all need counseling,” Vujicic continued. “It’s all about meeting [where] the people are at, healing their hearts, having counseling, having accountability, moving forward, and dreaming big again — but going back to the dreams of what is His dream for the church, which is unity.”
Lastly, Vujicic told people who might be struggling to “go try and ask God today…’God, even though I haven’t got what I feel like I need today, or want today, help me to be used that I can give somebody else what they need, what they want.'”

“Go try [to] be a miracle for someone else,” he concluded.
Vujicic frequently shares encouraging messages like this. In a TEDTalk, he said, “We’re all looking for something. We’re all looking for hope. Hope you can’t just have just because you were born with hope. No, we’re born with pain. We’re born and live through difficulties.”
“In our life — my parents always taught me that even though we don’t know why I was born this way, that we have a choice. Either to be angry for what we don’t have or be thankful for what we do have,” he continued. “I am not a superhero, I go through ups and downs, so do you. But take one day at a time and if you haven’t found that piece of knowing who you are and why you’re here and where you’re going when you’re not here. For me, I want you to know that’s how I’ve overcome.”
Vujicic’s messages of hope and perseverance are an inspiration to anyone who might be struggling to overcome their own problems.
