Podcast Annie Downs shared why she believes that the Lord will not allows us to mess up His plan for our lives as long as we wholeheartedly pursue Him.

“If you are pursuing God, I don’t think you can miss what He has for you. You can’t miss the job, the city, the partner, the plan He has for you. I just don’t think He works like that,” Downs told Madison Prewett Troutt.

“You can’t outrun the sovereignty of God. Your life is not a game of Chutes and Ladders where one wrong move sends you spiraling,” Prewett Trout added. “Psalm 138:8 – ‘The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me…’ Even when you feel unsure, God’s plan isn’t fragile. He’s not panicked. He’s not pacing. He’s leading. Walk with Him & trust that His purpose stands.”

Throughout the Bible, the Lord has shown this to be true, even when from a worldly perspective, it seems like His plan has gone awry. The story of David, for example, is full of twists and turns that would make it seem like the Lord has not fulfilled His promises to David, but ultimately He does.

Even more powerful, God time and time again fulfills His plans even when those involved are not pursuing Him. Jonah, for example, actively ran away from his calling from the Lord but eventually ended up preaching to Nineveh and causing the city to turn from their evil ways, just as the Lord had planned.

“I’m reminded of Joseph’s story. When he’s 17 years old, he’s betrayed by his brothers and sold into slavery, and Joseph has to have these thoughts of, like, ‘God, what are you doing?’” former NFL star Tim Tebow previously said when discussing why we can trust the Lord even when things seem to be going astray. “But over, and over, and over again, in Joseph’s story, there is a theme: He trusts God.”

“God knew what his story was going to be. Joseph didn’t. God knew 13 years later, he was going to be second in command of Egypt. Joseph didn’t,” Tebow continued. “I hope that if I had to go through something like that, that I would be willing to trust God,” Tebow shared. “I hope I would be willing to say, ‘God, I can’t see the full picture, but you can.’”

Christians are blessed to go through life with the knowledge that their life is in the hands of the Lord and He works all things for good. We can find our foundation in that and stay steady throughout life no matter what happens to us.
