Josiah Queen inspires young generations through his song, “Dusty Bibles.”
“Dusty Bibles” encourages listeners to ditch their phones and pick up their physical Bibles instead.
“That’s not real life,” Queen said of spending time on social media and screens.
Some of the song’s potent lyrics are:
I’ve been struggling to find some peace of mind
It’s the problem of our nation and in our generation
We’re too busy and can’t find the timeAre we busy, or is it all a lie?

We got dust on our Bibles, brand-new iPhones
No wonder why we feel this way
We walk with our eyes closed, blind leading blind folks
And I’m done with those idols and dusty Bibles
“’Dusty Bibles’ is a spiritual reset button,” Christian Family Radio’s Larry Castro writes. “It’s not about legalism or performance. It’s about rekindling what we’ve lost and rediscovering a God who never stopped waiting. A God who still speaks, still loves, still invites.”
The single is part of a collection of meaningful hits from Queen’s sophomore album, Mt. Zion, which came out in August.
The song made it into the top three songs on two Billboard charts earlier this year, The Christian Beat reported.
“There’s this hunger for truth,” Queen told Relevant this year. “Even among people who don’t go to church. They’re tired of being sold something.”
“They want what’s real. And I think people are starting to see that Jesus isn’t just a fairy tale. There’s something here that actually holds up,” he continued.
What moves him the most about his impact is that it’s hitting non-believers. He says people that have never stepped into church discover the gospel through his music.
“That’s what gets me. That’s the part I’ll never get over,” he said.
“At the end of the day,” he added, “I want people to hear these songs and want more of Jesus. That’s it. If that happens, then I’ve done what I came to do.”
Queen wrote “Dusty Bibles” with Zac Lawson, Dylan Thomas and John Michael Howell.
“With ‘Dusty Bibles,’ I just had this thought about we’ve got dust on our Bibles but brand-new iPhones. We all kind of laughed and [my co-writers] were like, ‘You can’t put that in a song,’ and ‘How about Android users?’ But it just stuck,” he told Billboard.
“We thought we’d just throw it on the album, but listening back to it, it just felt very relatable. I was spending too much time on my phone, and I felt like it was really timely…It’s a cool opportunity for artists to come up and be independent, but if you find all your validation from your phone, it just never fulfills that,” he explained.
Queen’s song is rightly calling us out. So listen, put that phone down and pick up something that will bring you closer to God — His word, the Bible.
