Justin Bieber Celebrates Finding His Purpose in Christ in Performance at The Freedom Experience
By Movieguide® Staff
Justin Bieber headlined The Freedom Experience concert—which also featured artists like Tori Kelly, Kari Jobe, and Chandler Moore—which capped the week-long 1DayLA outreach in Los Angeles.
Bieber took the opportunity to encourage the 20,000 volunteers with worship and praise music, including the title song from his 2015 album, ‘Purpose.’
However, between 2015 and now, Bieber’s music and life have reflected more and more his relationship with Jesus. Now, Bieber uses his voice to point people to God.
One of the verses of ‘Purpose’ reads: “I put my all into your hands / Here’s my soul to keep / I let you in with all that I can / You’re not hard to reach.”
The chorus reads: “And you bless me with the best gift / That I’ve ever known / You give me purpose / Yeah, you’ve given me purpose.”
The track from 2015 features a voice-over from Bieber. However, during The Freedom Experience, Bieber decided to have a more focused time to champion God’s power.
“God is in this room right now,” Bieber told the audience. “I want you to put your hands up, God is here right now. He’s in the midst of our pain and our struggle right now, I want you to put your hands up.”
“You are not alone,” he continued, concluding with a repetition of “Thank you Jesus.”
Movieguide® previously reported on how Bieber finds his purpose in God:
The young artist’s faith is active and continues to grow.
“I just kept trusting what He said and what He’s saying to me,” Bieber explains. “And I just believe He speaks to me. It’s not audible. I don’t hear His audible voice. I don’t know if people do. I know people have said it, and in the Bible, it talks about that, but I just never heard it. It’s more like nudges: Don’t do this. Or: Set these boundaries.”
He added: “It’s just rewarding to be all that you were designed to be. And I believe that, at this point in my life, I’m right where I’m supposed to be, doing what I believe that God wants me to do. And there’s nothing more fulfilling.”
Christ is at the center of Bieber’s career and his relationships with others, especially in his marriage to Hailey Baldwin. The couple married in 2018 and were baptized together in August 2020.
“The moment my wife and I got baptized together! This was one of most special moments of my life. Confessing our love and trust in Jesus publicly with our friends and family,” he wrote on Instagram.
