Kat Von D Doesn’t Listen to Things That Don’t ‘Sit Right With My Faith’

Kat Von D recently shared her viewpoint on consuming content that is not faith-centric and creating boundaries.
“I’m sober. I used to do drugs and drink, and I no longer do that. I can be around it and not be tempted, but I choose not to be around it…it’s just not my thing,” she explained during an episode of Allie Beth Stuckey’s “Relatable” podcast. “It’s a trigger for me…so I think when it comes to things like Halloween or, like — I don’t like using the term ‘dark stuff,’ because I don’t really consider it dark, but if it triggers you, then just don’t participate in it.”
Von D said she feels “very sound in my faith,” adding, “I listen to secular music. I do not listen to worship music. I like to sing it in church, and when I’m singing hymns at church, it’s a whole different experience than when I’m listening to The Cure.”
“I don’t think Jesus would be bummed at me for listening to The Cure,” she laughed. “At the end of the day, I just know I’m not going to listen to something that doesn’t sit right with my heart, with my faith…there are certain things I won’t listen to, and those are my own boundaries.”
Von D also spoke about maintaining relationships with friends who do not share her faith or views.
“I just feel like, ‘Why would I turn away my friends who know where I stand on things and know that I will always be an open door if ever the time comes that they have a question?’ Because that happened for me,” she explained.
Von D found faith and was baptized in 2023. Movieguide® previously reported:
Former tattoo artist Kat Von D shared a video of her baptism following a long journey of personal transformation after she renounced the occult and witchcraft last year.
She captioned the video with a cross.
“Katherine von Drachenberg, upon your profession of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in obedience to His Divine command, I baptize you, my sister, in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,” the pastor said before submerging a white robe-clad Von D.
Von D joyfully hugged him as she emerged from the water.
Von D’s friends attended the baptism, and the video shows several tattooed, pierced people reading from hymnals and worshipping.
Von D has been making many changes in her life after finding faith, including removing occult items from her home and covering up tattoos that no longer represent who she is.
“I’ve always found beauty in the macabre, but at this point, I just had to ask myself what is my relationship with this content?” she captioned a 2022 post. “And the truth is, I just don’t want to invite any of these things into our family’s lives, even if it comes disguised in beautiful covers, collecting dust on my shelves.”
Von D also recently updated fans on her tattoo cover-ups in a recent Instagram story that showed her back, captioned, “Got so much done today!”
She has been working on this project since 2020, telling Instagram followers, “Feels so good to finally cover up so many of the tattoos I got back when I used to drink. Those tattoos meant nothing to me but landmarks in dark times.”
