Actor Reminds Us What Christmas Is All About in New Devotional

Kevin and Sam Sorbo are reminding people of “the reason for the season” with their new book, “Christmas 40 Days Devotional: A Loving Celebration.”
“Believing in God, believing in Jesus has always been with me,” Kevin said in an interview with THE 700 CLUB. “St. John’s Lutheran Church was really my second home.”
He added, “Christmas, obviously, was just wonderful in our family. We absolutely loved it and had such a great time doing it, and we’re looking forward to this Christmas.”
Sam’s upbringing was a little different. She shared that she was raised Jewish and had a Protestant stepfather.
“We celebrated Christmas and celebrated Easter, but we didn’t really understand the meaning behind the holidays,” she explained.
Now, Sam and Kevin want to share the true meaning of Christmas with others with their new devotional.
“It’s such a meaningful holiday, and yet, you know, our culture has sort of turned away from it, and now you’re almost castigated for saying ‘Merry Christmas,’” Sam said. “I thought, you know, let’s take a look at the importance behind this holiday. Jesus came to the world as a light in the darkness, and we ought to recognize that maybe a little bit more.”
The book is “a devotional that delivers the reader into the wonder and enchantment of the holiness of the season,” according to a synopsis. “Christ arrived as a newborn to free the world — a gift freely given by a loving God to His children, who, though far from perfect, may always find forgiveness at His table. The book encourages and coaches readers to embrace a full forty days of Christmas and carry its enduring message in their hearts throughout the year.”
“Remember, the reason for the season is Jesus and people forget that,” Kevin said.
In addition to promoting “Christmas 40 Days Devotional: A Loving Celebration,” Kevin is also hard at work on his latest project, a movie titled ELIJAH PEEL.
“I do a lot of stories that deal with redemption,” he told Commercial Appeal. “I like the stories that Hollywood used to do but don’t any more. A time when audiences would walk out of a movie and think ‘That’s a story from life,’ and not a special-effects creation from James Cameron.”
