DUCK DYNASTY’s Korie Robertson recently opened up about the role a wife plays in marriage — and it’s not to be your husband’s Holy Spirit.
“You’re not your husband’s Holy Spirit,” she said in an Instagram video. “I know I’ve tried to be my husband’s Holy Spirit at times and be like, ‘Oh, you know, God told me that you need to do this,'” she laughed. She’s married to Willie Robertson.
Despite her desire to guide her husband in this way, Robertson remembered an important truth.
She continued, “He’s got the Spirit in him — trust in that and let someone else…maybe someone else could speak something. Trust God that He will move in his life, and you don’t have to be the one to try to do it.”
Robertson added in the caption, “If you’re a wife who finds yourself carrying the pressure to make sure your husband’s hearing from God…take a breath. You can trust that the same Spirit who leads and speaks to you is speaking to him too. You don’t have to be in control, you can love, pray, and walk together in grace ♥️🤗”
People in the comment section appreciated the reminder.
“I’ve done this too! This is something every wife needs to be encouraged in,” one person said.
Another person added, “Yep, there’s only room for 3 in the Trinity, and you’re not 1 😉 There’s only one Holy Spirit, and it’s not me. Exactly what an older women taught me and it was a pivotal key of changing our marriage. 👏”
In John 16:13-14, Jesus explains that the Holy Spirit guides believers in truth: “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you.”
This reminder can free wives from trying to play God for their husbands.

Willie and Korie recently celebrated 33 years of marriage.
“I’ve always said…Try to give more than you take,” Willie told Fox New Digital of how he keeps their marriage strong. “Especially in marriage … trying not to take, you know? I got to… give more than I’m putting in. And there’s times where you’re obviously going to need to take… but that’s kind of a mindset I’ve always had.”
Korie added, “We work hard on our relationship. We turn back in. I think there are times in 33 years of marriage and whatever marriage, you’re going to start drifting apart if you’re not careful…we always are just really careful to turn back to one another.”
For their anniversary, the couple traveled to Puerto Rico.
In a post, Korie explained, “It was so special celebrating 33 years in such a beautiful place together and walking down memory lane! We love mixing a little work with play and a little salsa dancing with iguana hunting, ha!”
Korie and Willie’s relationship is a reminder that with hard work, sacrifice and help from the Holy Spirit, God can help marriages succeed.
