Christian artist Lauren Daigle recently shared her thoughts on the recent murder of podcaster and public speaker Charlie Kirk.
“It’s horrific that our country is in such a polarized state that we believe the ruthless killing of someone is greater than sorting out disagreements,” Daigle wrote in a lengthy Instagram statement. “What have we become? Is this barbaric behavior what our forefathers gave their lives for?”
She continued, “It’s not party against party. We are in a spiritual battle. Good versus evil. Light versus dark,” then shared Ephesians 6:12 — “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
Daigle shared her own anxieties about the situation, sharing that she is “truly in shock that we have diluted human life to whether or not they offend us, whether we differ or agree.”

“We now see people in black and white text instead of seeing black and white text secondary to who the person IS,” she continued. “Have we completely removed ourselves from ever offering grace? What is a society without grace?”
Daigle then said she would be completing a spiritual fast to push back “the demonic forces of evil.”
“My plan is to read scripture and pray on my Instagram every day,” she explained. “Feel free to join me in the fight against despair, hopelessness, confusion, and sorrow! Fasting and prayer is the battle cry.”
In the post’s caption, Daigle wrote, “Prayer and fasting starts today! Join if you would like. I’ll be jumping on IG daily to read Scripture and pray together…We need His healing!!! I’m pretty sure that sentiment is bi-partisan.”
Many other celebrities have shared their thoughts on Kirk’s death. Actor Josh Duhamel shared a photo of Kirk and his family, writing, “RIP Charlie Kirk. Please remember, no matter what your political beliefs, that this man had a wife and two beautiful children who no longer have him. Please pray for this madness to stop.”
Jamie Lee Curtis also shared her sorrow at Kirk’s death during an appearance on comedian Marc Maron’s podcast.
“I disagreed with him on almost every point I ever heard him say,” the FREAKY FRIDAY actress said, beginning to cry. “But I believe he was a man of faith, and I hope in that moment when he died, that he felt connected to his faith…he’s a father and a husband and a man of faith, and I hope whatever ‘connection to God’ means, that he felt it.”
Daigle’s recent statement is a reminder to turn towards faith in our darkest moments, for both strength and comfort.
