Pastor Matt Chandler: ‘These are the Days God Has Designed for Me’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Sadie Robertson Huff and pastor and author Matt Chandler recently discussed what it means to be “uniquely made.”
Huff quoted from Chandler’s latest book, “The Overcomers” — “‘We have to know that we’re made in the image of God, we have to know that we’re a child of God, and we have to know that we are uniquely made,’” — and asked Chandler to explain those three factors further.
“I think we’re perpetually in a world trying to deform us, and these three things actually form us,” he said. “It’s how we continue to grow into the fullness of what God’s made available to us in the person and work of Jesus Christ.”
Chandler pointed to Psalm 139:16:
Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
And in Your book they all were written,
The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them.
“Psalm 139 ends it with this idea that we were made for the day and the day was made for us, that these are the days that God has designed for me,” he said.
Chandler continued, “I really am one of one. There will never be anybody like me again, there’s never been anyone like me before, and that starts to form an understanding of God’s purpose for my life.”
“The Overcomers: God’s Vision for You to Thrive in an Age of Anxiety and Outrage” is Chandler’s latest book and encourages readers to defeat their anxiety by trusting in God’s plan.
A synopsis of the book reads, “In ‘The Overcomers,’ Matt Chandler reminds readers that they don’t have to be anxious or afraid of anything in the present or in the future because both have already been won. We are not victims but overcomers — and we are a key part of what God is working out in our day. God is at work in the mess, just as He has always been, and He continues to accomplish His purpose of seeking and saving the lost.”
“I wrote this book to encourage you that you were made for this moment in history,” Chandler wrote in an Instagram post about the book. “It’s about your purpose in life, that you are here. I am here. I want to encourage you to read this book in this moment by God’s good design to push back darkness, and establish order and light!”
Movieguide® recently reported on Huff’s conversation with her friend Lindsay Neely:
Sadie Robertson Huff and friend Lindsay Neely recently discussed Neely’s journey to becoming debt-free, as well as how faith factored into her family’s financial decisions.
“We put our heads down,” Neely said of her and her husband’s decision to forgo things like dinners out and vacations in an effort to rid themselves of debt. “We worked really hard, and we stayed committed to that.”
When drawing up budgets for this journey, the couple agreed that it was important to set aside money for their church.
“We were like, ‘Okay, we’re going to tithe every week, and that’s the first thing that comes out of our budget,’ and we did, and I can’t even tell you the amount of blessings we’ve gotten,” Neely shared. “Just God showing up, one time after another. If you really do give God his part first, he will show up.”
