What Does It Mean to Be Made in God’s Image? Christian Singer Explains
By Movieguide® Contributor
Matthew West is clearing up some confusion regarding his song “The Truth” and reminding his fans that God created them in His image.
During a Q&A at a recent event, a fan asked West about what we mean to God.
“I love the song, but there’s one line that always gives me pause,” a fan asked the singer about “The Truth,” “so I want to know where your thought process was and where you came from. I believe that God is always and forever changing me and growing me to be more Christlike, and so you have a line in the song that you wrote that said, ‘He wouldn’t change a thing,’ so I would like to know where your heart was with that line and what your intention was.”

West explained how the line has to do with how we are made in God’s image.
“It’s all in the context of Psalm 139 and the reminder of whose image we were created in, and in that context, God wouldn’t choose for your blonde hair to be brown, and God wouldn’t choose for your brown eyes to be blue, right?” the singer explained. “But with the reminder that day by day, He is renew renewing us, restoring us, reviving us and making us more and more in His image.”
Psalm 139:13-14 reads, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
West is getting into the Christmas spirit with his new book “Come Home for Christmas.”
“My new book is an invitation for you to come home for Christmas. Together, we will rediscover the wonder of Christmas and return to the greatest story ever told about the greatest gift ever given,” he said of the book on Instagram.
West also just wrapped up his third annual “Come Home for Christmas” weekend, an opportunity for fans to connect personally with the singer.
“Join Matthew West and The West Family in their ‘Hallmark-like’ hometown of Franklin TN with special events including but not limited to: Christmas dinner, Christmas Tree Lighting in downtown Franklin, writers rounds, worship morning and more,” a description of the weekend read.
