Christian artist Matthew West just celebrated his 22nd wedding anniversary by releasing a sweet song for his wife, Emily.
“This song really sums up how grateful I am to walk through life with Emily, my best friend by my side,” West wrote on Instagram about “Growing Up & Growing Old.” “I think there’s probably nothing the devil hates more than a husband and wife who decide to put God at the center of their marriage and a Christian family staying strong through thick and thin. I hope this song hits your heart the way it hits mine. Here’s to growing up & growing old, and loving each other well!”
West wrote the song with AJ Pruis, marking the singer’s first release since he dropped his 13th album, Don’t Stop Praying, in October. The track celebrates “the 22nd anniversary of Matthew West’s marriage. With an inspiring message that love conquers all in life, the song details their love story and the cherished memories they share together,” the Christian Beat said.
“Growing up and growing old / With a heart to love and a hand to hold / No giving up, no matter what, we’ll make it through / The good, the bad / The right, the wrong / I’ll take it all yeah just as long / As I’m growing up and growing old,” he sings.
West posted a video of the moment he shared the song with Emily — a moment that made her cry.
“Okay, so I’m releasing a new love song the day before our 22nd anniversary. So, I need you to approve it,” West said to his wife while handing her a pair of headphones.
As Emily listened to the song, she couldn’t help but get emotional.
“That’s making me cry,” she told her husband. “That’s sweet. I like the strings. I love it. It’s so pretty.”

“My new song ‘Growing Up & Growing Old’ is all about cherishing the moments with the ones you love. I wrote this song for my wife Emily as we’re celebrating 22 years of marriage this weekend,” West added in the caption.
On their anniversary, West shared another video of him and Emily reminiscing about the life they built together.
“Happy anniversary to my incredible wife @heyemilywest. I love looking back on these memories with you and reflecting on the ways God has blessed our marriage these last 22 years! Here’s to growing up & growing old together,” West wrote.
