New Faith-Based Movie to Star Chrissy Metz of THIS IS US Fame

From DeVon Franklin, the producer that brought us HEAVEN IS FOR REAL, MIRACLES FROM HEAVEN and THE STAR comes the movie BREAKTHROUGH. Slated for release in Spring of 2019, BREAKTHROUGH tells the true story of Joyce Smith, a mother whose 14-year- old son fell through a frozen lake in Missouri and was declared lifeless. As told in Joyce’s book THE IMPOSSIBLE, the mother sat by her son’s body and prayed until he miraculously came back to life. Chrissy Metz, who plays the character of Kate in the hit NBC series THIS IS US will play the mother, Joyce. Also starring in the movie is Mike Colter (LUKE CAGE), an agnostic firefighter who helps Joyce, and finds a reason to believe in God after here son is revived. The movie is currently in production in Canada and will also feature Josh Lucas (SWEET HOME ALABAMA) and Topher Grace (SPIDER-MAN 3). The script for BREAKTHROUGH was written by Grant Nieporte (SEVEN POUNDS) and is directed by Roxann Dawson. Stay tuned for more updates from Movieguide®.
