THE CHOSEN just took Prime Video’s No. 1 spot for the second time this year.

On Monday, it landed in the top spot among all of Prime’s titles. Season 5 of THE CHOSEN debuted on the platform a week prior.

It outranked new thriller series WE WERE LIARS, THE ACCOUNTANT 2, THE BETTER SISTER, DEEP COVER, THE SUMMER I TURNED PRETTY and more, Crosswalk reported on June 23.

Another Biblical series, HOUSE OF DAVID, also landed at No. 1 this year.

Fans have long-awaited THE CHOSEN Season 5, which shows the Last Supper and Jesus’ iconic entry to Jerusalem. The first two episodes premiered on June 15. The last three episodes will stream on June 29. Sometime later this year, the series will be available for free on THE CHOSEN app.

“The table is set,” the season’s description on Prime reads. “The people of Israel welcome Jesus as king while his disciples anticipate his crowning. But-instead of confronting Rome—he turns the tables on the Jewish religious festival. Their power threatened, the country’s religious and political leaders will go to any length to ensure this Passover meal is Jesus’ last.”

Prime has 200 million subscribers across the world.

“Their license fees are going to help us reach a billion [people] much, much faster,” director Dallas Jenkins said of his company’s partnership with Amazon. Prime Video has a “huge marketing engine that we don’t have,” he added.

The license fees will help tremendously with translating and marketing the series.

“We can do things like TV ads,” Jenkins said. “We can do things like more global outreach. We can also rapidly increase our translations. We can supercharge the number of translations that we can do and faster. We can reach far more languages quicker than we’ve been doing. And so you’re going to see people all over the world get this show in their own language quicker because of Prime Video’s help.”

Luke Dimyan, who plays Judas, recently told Women’s World what it was like to play the historical role this season.

“The day we filmed the Last Supper, when Judas leaves the table — that was incredibly emotional,” he said. “I realized it was my last day filming with the full group of disciples. For three years, we’d all been together almost every day.”

“Even if we weren’t speaking in a scene, we were there in the heat, in the sand, in the background, together,” he said. “That day, Jordan Walker Ross (Little James) came up to me and asked, ‘Is this your last day?’ And when I said yes, the entire atmosphere changed. Giavani stopped what he was doing.”

All of the disciple actors all hugged him and said something heartfelt, which overwhelmed Dimyan.

“That day, I felt the emotional weight not just of the role, but of leaving behind a brotherhood,” he said.

Season 6 of THE CHOSEN will feature Jesus’ crucifixion. It will release in theaters March 12, 2027.
