Iconic singer Pat Boone says there is “a hunger” for movies and TV shows with family-friendly values.

“I’m so proud of Ted Baehr and what he’s doing, because I’ve got four daughters and 16 grandkids, 17 great-grandkids, and I know that they’re being exposed to poisonous things in motion pictures, unfortunately,” Boone said while attending this year’s Movieguide® Awards Gala.

He continued, “Movieguide® gives parents a chance to ward off some of the tough stuff, and try to find the good things in film that can be good influences, and that’s why I’m here.”

“There’s always a constant war between the good and the bad…but too often these days, the bad wins,” Boone said. “That’s why I’m so thrilled about this [cultural shift]. There is a hunger for things that are good.”

Boone has long been a champion for moral content that families can watch together.

“People waste millions making sordid, corrupt films that fail,” Boone told Fox News Digital in 2025. “Once in a while they get big, to the sorrow of all of us. But if you want to make a successful, profitable film, make it family friendly, make it faith friendly, make it a good story, and do it well, and you’ve got a great shot.”

The singer and actor added, “Faith-based films, and even for that matter, music, television all does better with families in mind, if children are in mind, and if something in your heart communicates that you want the best and not the worst.”

In an interview with Movieguide® founder Dr. Ted Baehr, Boone shared, “I’ve never made a movie that wasn’t G-rated. They’ve been very successful. I know that G-rated films have a bigger potential audience, usually, which you’ve proven to me and to the industry, then all these X-rated, evil things that often cost millions and millions of dollars and they flop.”

“Meanwhile, G-rated films have a better chance, as I know, and you’ve proven of being seen by a lot of people and doing people good and preserving what I know is the reason that the movie industry in America was our greatest export,” he continued. “We exported to the world, a vision of America, that the rest of the world bought into back when all of our movies had happy endings. The good guys won, and the bad guys were punished. Pictures of American life were the envy of the world.”

Boone concluded, “We can still tell good stories about good things that people can do. And give hope, and a sense of well-being about a future that we can still have, if we will seek that light. If we will bathe ourselves in that light now.”
