Philadelphia Eagles’ A.J. Brown: ‘I Play For God’

Wide receiver A.J. Brown has helped the Philadelphia Eagles start this season undefeated, and the football player credits God for his success.

Brown has been playing for the Eagles for a little less than a year after getting traded by the Tennessee Titans.

“I play for God,” Brown said ahead of this season. “I don’t play for expectations of man. I play this game because God has given me the ability to play this game, and doing my best is giving my due diligence back to Him.”

One of the season’s most impressive wins, in Brown’s opinion, was against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

“Our backs were against the wall,” he shared.“We fought through adversity being down 14 early. Just fighting back. Fighting back, and that’s what it’s about in this league. They’re a really good team. … This was our best win thus far this season.”

Brown frequently shares his faith on Instagram and draws a cross in eye black under each eye for many games.

“Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. ‘ALL THINGS,’’ he captioned one post. “New beginnings starts tonight!”

“I’m a Christian first, before anything,” the football player said. “When I step out on the field, I want to say thank you for the blessing, for everything, because I don’t have to do this. I get to do this. So I always wear a cross.”
