Podcast About Exorcisms Wins People to Christ: ‘Bringing Hope’
By Movieguide® Contributor
A new podcast about exorcisms is winning people over to Christ.
The “Exorcism Files” podcast documents one priest’s real accounts of delivering people from demonic forces and leading them to Jesus.
“In the last several years, there has been an alarming increase in the number of reported demonic possessions and for some of the most disturbing and vicious cases of possession, one priest was often summoned,” a synopsis reads.
“With almost two decades in ministry, renowned exorcist Father Carlos Martins has encountered evil in nearly every way imaginable. From Ouija boards and curses to witches and demonic pacts, Father Martins has battled the ancient serpent in many forms,” it continues.
In an interview with CBN, creator Ryan Bethea explained how he decided to make the show.
“Half-jokingly, I actually didn’t want to do this,” Bethea explained. “I had no intention of doing a docuseries on spiritual warfare, the demonic, any of this.”
But while on a trip to the Vatican, he came across a priest who had some astounding stories about possession and deliverance.
“I got introduced to father Carlos Martins, the exorcist on our show, and I said, ‘Hey, tell me a story,’ and you know, when you meet an exorcist, you got to say, ‘Hey, tell me a story,’ and he did. And I went, ‘oh man, we all need to hear these stories’—and that is how the show was born.”
In the trailer, Father Martins says, “When you see a chair levitate for the 83rd time, it gets old, but confronting the mind of the devil, the source of every perversion, every sin, every wickedness, every bad thing—that’s scary.”
Despite the troubling stories shared, there is a redemptive message at the end of them.
“Instead of spreading fear, the podcast intends to bring the realities of spiritual warfare and victory in Christ to light,” CBN said.
Bethea recently posted to his Instagram account, thanking people for their support and reminding people that their mission is to use the podcast to bring hope.
“Ever wonder why we decided to do this in the first place? Sometimes people raise an eyebrow at what we are creating. We get it. It’s weird, it’s edgy, but It’s about bringing hope and joy. We are beyond humbled at the testimonies that have poured in,” he said.
