Priscilla Shirer: ‘May We Never Be Desensitized to the Presence of God’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Priscilla Shirer wants us to “open up our eyes” to the presence of God.
“God has so blessed us that we’re too blessed for our own good,” Shirer said during an episode of GOING BEYOND. “We don’t see the fingerprints of God in our lives…we are blinded to the fact that, even when things are dark, the light of God’s presence can still be found if we’ll just open up our eyes.”
She continued, “Sometimes your difficulties are less about the enemy being against you and more about God wanting to show you what it looks like when He is for you. Sometimes it’s about Him finally wanting His daughter’s eyes to be open so that when He shows up, they’re sensitive enough to see Him.”
“May we never be desensitized to the presence of God,” Shirer concluded.
In addition to her work as an author and speaker, Shirer is also an actress, appearing in the Teddy Bear Award®-winning OVERCOMER and the upcoming THE FORGE.
A description of THE FORGE reads:
Isaiah Wright has some growing up to do. A year out of high school with no plans for his future, Isaiah is challenged by his single mom and a successful businessman to start charting a better course for his life. Through the prayers of his mother and a prayer warrior named Miss Clara, as well as biblical discipleship from his new mentor, Isaiah begins to discover God’s purpose for his life is so much more than he could hope for or imagine.
“We were already inspired with a powerful storyline, but the entire movie vaulted up when we realized it beautifully fit alongside our favorite WAR ROOM characters,” said Stephen Kendrick.
Alex Kendrick added, “We’ve thought outside the box and did some things we’ve never done before with THE FORGE and can’t wait to see how audiences react to it and these themes of mentorship and second chances.”
Movieguide® previously reported on THE FORGE:
Director Alex Kendrick is placing more faith in the Lord than ever while creating his upcoming movie, THE FORGE, a story about Christian discipleship.
With THE FORGE, Kendrick is going deeper than ever and allowing himself to enter the river at the spot where he has to rely on the current to carry him rather than crossing by his own strength.
“I want to go deeper with the Lord, I want to go deeper in my faith. Eventually, God’s going to get me where I can’t touch the bottom anymore and all I can do is trust in Him,” Kendrick explained. “In other words, I’m completely in his hands. I’m asking God to take me deeper over the course of this movie.”
