Country superstar Reba McEntire is “excited” and “honored” to return to THE VOICE for its 28th season.

“I’m really excited to be back for Season 28,” she said in a recent first-look video posted to YouTube. “It’s a fun show. You get to sit here and listen to great talent. I’m just so honored they asked me back.”

McEntire added, “The reason I’m really excited about coming back is I know what’s happening now. The first season, I was very nervous. I didn’t know what to do, didn’t know what to say. Second season, better. Third season, better. Fourth season with these guys [coaches Michael Bublé, Niall Horan and Snoop Dogg], it’s the best. They make me laugh, and there’s nothing better than getting a good belly laugh four or five times a day.”

The country singer also shared what she’s looking for in potential team members this season.

“It doesn’t matter what genre they’re singing,” McEntire explained. “If it touches my heart, I’m going to be turning around. You never know. Even if they’re not from my genre — country music — maybe they see something in me that I could contribute to their career and help them out to win this show. And to teach them what you’ve learned in your career, I’m really looking forward to that.”

THE VOICE isn’t the only TV project McEntire has in the works. She is currently filming Season 2 of HAPPY’S PLACE and will be joined by some major guest stars; BACK TO THE FUTURE’s Christpher Lloyd, THE PRINCESS BRIDE actress Carol Kane and former SNL cast member Cheri Oteri are all set to appear in upcoming episodes.

“[Season 2] is going to be very good and entertaining,” McEntire told Good Housekeeping of HAPPY’S PLACE’s next season. “It’s got great points for every character, and the show gives everyone a chance to shine. Us actors may be very different from each other and diversified in our lives, ages and backgrounds. But we’re all gelling and that’s the great thing.”

McEntire is also set to be honored at this year’s Paley Honors Fall Gala, along with TV executive producer Bill Lawrence and Mattel chairman/CEO Ynon Kreiz.

“Ever since I was a little girl watching Annie Oakley on our black and white TV in Oklahoma, I was captivated by the magic of media and entertainment,” McEntire said in a statement. “Back then, I could never have imagined seeing myself on that screen. I’m grateful for all the opportunities I’ve had, and it means so much to me to receive this honor from the Paley Center.”

Returning to coach THE VOICE, working hard on the latest season of her hit sitcom and continuing to be a country music superstar — it’s no surprise the Paley Center is honoring McEntire this year!
