Roma Downey shared some scripture with her social media followers as she reflects on the beauty of nature.
“Low tide at sunrise,” she captioned a video of a beautiful scene of the ocean.
Downey then shared John 8:12 — “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’” — and Matthew 6:26 — “Look at the birds in the sky. They don’t sow seed or harvest grain or gather crops into barns. Yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth much more than they are?”

The actress recently reflected on her legacy in the show that made her a household name, TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL.
“When I first auditioned, I had no idea how life-changing this would be,” she told Studio 512. “It was a gift that shaped me personally and professionally.”
Downey continued, “We realized early on that these stories of hope and faith were resonating far beyond what we imagined.”
In a 2023 interview, she joked, “The year I got cast as TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL, yes, I’m a believer, but I was simply an out-of-work actor looking for a job, and they wanted me to play a doctor or a lawyer or anything, a teacher, I would have said yes to that.”
Downey added, “But I have been fortunate enough that the kinds of roles that have come to me have been in harmony with the person I am and the things I believe.”
She has been open about her own Christian faith, telling Fox News that, following the death of her mother when she was a child, “If we hadn’t had our faith to support us and our church community to surround us…life brought us to our knees.”
“But while we were down there, we prayed,” Downey shared. “We prayed for strength, we prayed for understanding, we prayed for comfort. And the Lord provided. [Faith is] central to who I am and in my work.”
She acknowledged that “not everybody is able to bring what they believe into what they do, particularly in show business” but said it’s something that remains important to her, shown in projects like TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL, her work as a producer on THE BIBLE and movie ON A WING AND A PRAYER.
“I’m committed to telling stories that inspire and uplift,” she explained. “It’s a space I want to be in. It’s the work that I think is important.”
Whether it’s on screen or on social media, Downey is committed to sharing her Christian faith with others.
