Country singer Russell Dickerson fosters a culture of safety for the women who attend his concerts, something he opened up about while speaking with podcaster Annie F. Downs.
“RD carries the heart of Jesus-centered masculinity,” Downs read from a message by a woman named Bridget. “I was at the Nashville show. I could feel the weight of honor in the room as a woman in the room. I felt so safe with the men in the crowd and the men on stage.”
By attending his concerts and listening to his music, the writer feels “pulled to celebrate the legacy of love he and [his wife] Kailey share.” Bridget asked, “are you aware that you write music with such honor that it disciples people in their view of romance?”
Dickerson explained that he’s “absolutely” worked to create that kind of atmosphere for his female fans.
“I mean, there’s so many layers to it. With the band, it’s just…half of us are in the same friend group since college, so we all married each other’s best friends,” he explained.
“It’s just like…women is not even a thing,” he said, explaining that his group doesn’t participate in the typical hookup, groupie culture that many bands fall into.
He continued, “It never has been, even when, you know, some of us weren’t married.”
“There weren’t women coming on the bus?” Downs asked. “Never,” Dickerson responded. “We know, like, that ain’t it. And it never has been,” adding that’s “just the caliber of men that I surround myself with.”
Regarding his music, he says, “it just really is out of honor for my wife.”
Despite his full music career, Dickerson is a family man at heart. Last month, he posted a sweet photo reel of his family, including his wife Kailey and their two boys, Remington, 4, and Radford, 1.

“We’ve been out on the road together,” he recently told Country Living of how he prioritizes family time amid his busy tour schedule. “Where we usually bring our boys, we’ve been leaving them with the nanny for like two, three days at a time, so we really get quality time together — have a little coffee date, have a little dinner date, whatever it is. That’s really been a huge part recently of prioritizing intentionality — just looking ahead a little bit so we can plan to not just all of a sudden realize that I’m gone for six days and she’s at home with two boys alone.”
Dickerson’s love for his family is a reminder that no matter how busy you are, honoring your family and spouse comes first.
