Steelers QB Puts Faith, Family Ahead of Football

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson has adjusted well to his new role in Pennsylvania, but he continues to prioritize his faith and family over football.
In a new Instagram post, Wilson shared a photo with him with his four kids, adding 1 John 4:19 in the caption, which reads, “We love because he first loved us.”
The athlete is stepdad to Future and shares Sienna Princess, Win Harrison and Amora Princess with his wife Ciara. He loves his family and that he gets to spend time with them, even while at work.
In another post, he celebrated his stepson, Future, and encouraged him to keep following Jesus.
“I’m full of Joy! Nothing better than seeing you smile! Our young growing boy becoming a young man. I am so proud of you, Future! Helping as a ball boy for the @Steelers and working on your own & in the Locker Room,” Wilson wrote. “Being so dedicated to sports and everything you embark on! You are the sunshine of my life. I love you. Keep Winning son! Proud Post! Cheers to you for being you! There is nothing you can’t do with Jesus on your side! Love you to Heaven & Back!”
“Being a stepdad…has taught me, really, what love is like, what life is really like, [and] how God intends us to love,” Wilson said previously of his relationship with Future. “One of the greatest gifts in the world is children.”
Since making his way to Pittsburgh, Wilson and Ciara have impacted the community in many ways, including visiting the children at the UPMC Children’s Hospital.
“Today, our newest friends to the ‘Burgh, @dangerusswilson and @ciara stopped by to visit patients @childrenspgh – our families were overjoyed with happiness to have the opportunity to spend some quality time with both of them,” UPMC shared on social media. “We are grateful for their support and generosity in being here to visit our kids and give them a moment they will never forget.”
Wilson also posted a photo with one of the children in the hospital and wrote, “God, We Thank YOU for Your incredible Healing Power & Your relentless love!”
Movieguide® previously reported on Wilson’s move to Pittsburgh:
Per the Post-Gazette, “Russell Wilson signed a one-year contract with the Steelers for the vet minimum because the Broncos were paying him $39 million in 2024. But Wilson and the Steelers intend to do a longer deal at the end of the season.”
“I want to be a part of the Pittsburgh community for a really long time, and I’m really excited about that,” Wilson told Steelers.com, “Hopefully we can add more championships here.”
Because the Broncos are paying Wilson $39 million even though he’s not on their roster, the Steelers can sign the quarterback at a low cost and allocate resources to other players.
“When you think about it, to be released but then to come here and to know that it’s not going to cost very much,” Wilson said of the move to Pittsburgh. “The best part about it is we get to add more players and do more things, and really, go win. Go win now and that’s our focus.”
