Why You Can Have Confidence in Your ‘Next Step,’ According to Sadie Robertson Huff

Sadie Robertson Huff is sharing the inspiration and message behind her latest book, “The Next Step: 50 Devotions to Find Your Way Forward.”
“I actually was pregnant with Haven when I wrote this book, and…it came from what people around me were saying a lot of, and when I say ‘people around me,’ more so the people who were following me, and I was getting questions…for what God had for their future,” she said while appearing on LIFE TODAY.
Huff shared that her followers were asking questions about the big life changes and choices they were facing, like college, graduation, jobs and dating.
“There’s so many life decisions,” she said. “It just feels very overwhelming.”
Huff continued, “It’s really just about being confident to take the next step, and so that’s where the message of the book came from. It’s not the giant steps of life, it’s not the full path — just the confidence in taking the next step with the Lord in the day you have today, so that’s where kind of the heart of it came from.”
And for anyone worried about making the wrong choice, Huff also had some words of wisdom.
“I think we give our souls too much power in those moments, thinking we’re gonna mess it up, but I just don’t think you’re big enough to mess up God’s plan,” she laughed. “I think if you are actively pursuing the Lord, and you are following the plans God has for you, and you are obeying the word of God, you’re not going to mess it up.”
Huff concluded with a piece of advice for the listeners: “Get in the habit of sitting with the Lord. Not just reading the word, but really meditating on the word. Those times when you actually meditate on His word, when you spend time, when you get in the habit of it, when you make space for that, you will really walk differently. You will talk differently. You will be different, because time with the Lord is never time wasted.”

In an Instagram post celebrating the publication of “The Next Step,” Huff wrote, “This book is all about embracing the next step with faith and confidence — and trusting that God’s wisdom will guide you every step of the way. This is all about seeing God and inviting Him into your every step in life! I can’t wait for you to experience the truth and encouragement I’ve gathered from His Word and the beautiful wisdom I’ve received from so many amazing people in my life. My hope is that this book helps you navigate whatever step you’re on with peace and clarity as you lean into your relationship with God!”
