Fans love the Savannah Bananas baseball team for their hilarious antics, dances and willingness to bend the rules of baseball. But did you know that faith is the center for many on the team?
“We are different,” the team says of themselves. “We take chances. We toe the line. We test the rules. We challenge the way things are ‘supposed’ to be.”
One way they do this is through “choreographed dances every game — Taylor Swift, Morgan Wallen, Mariah Carey — You name it, they’ve danced to it.”
In addition to their dancing, the Bananas have a “3-2-2, which stands for 3rd inning, second batter, second pitch. These are unique in-game pre-pitch dances that have combined together for over 300 million views on TikTok.”
But they won’t shy away from faith-based songs, too. Earlier this week, they performed the viral dance trend to rising Christian star Forrest Frank’s “Your Way’s Better,” sharing the video with their 3.2 million Instagram followers and 9.9 million TikTok fans.
“JESUS IS KING 🎉” Frank celebrated in the comment section.
Jon Root, a sports and faith commentator, also praised the Bananas faith impact.
“Say what you want about the Savannah Bananas, but I think their influence, especially on young sports fans, has been incredibly positive,” he wrote on X. “Recently, they did a viral dance trend to Forrest Frank’s Christian song ‘Your Way’s Better’ in front of tens of thousands.”
“They also have multiple Christians on the team, including @_CoachRAC, proudly sharing their faith every game & on social media. God is using the Savanah Bananas in a mighty way. I’m a big fan,” Root added.

At the end of April, the Bananas played in front of 81,000 people. Before the game, one of the players, Robert Anthony Cruz, posted a prayer on his Instagram as he prepared for the game.
“God, tonight the stadium will be filled with people who are hurting and people who are joyful, people who know you and people who don’t,” Coach Rac began. “God, I pray that by the way I carry myself and the way my teammates carry ourselves, that we would be a reflection of your grace that you’ve shown us. I am so thankful to be here. Never would have imagined playing in front of 81,000 people, but now being here, I want nothing more than for these 81,000 people to experience the joy of doing life with you and experiencing a relationship with the One who created them.”
He continued: “But God, help me show your love to other people today. Give me patience and humility. I pray for the families and the marriages of the people attending today, [that] you would strengthen them, that they would delight in each other and that they would delight in you. Give us thankful hearts and joyful spirits and a peace that passes all understanding. Thank you, Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen. Let’s play ball.”
If you’re a fan of sports and fun, then the Savannah Bananas are the team for you. Not only are the players great entertainers, but they also have a heart to serve the Lord and make Him known at their games.
