By Movieguide® Contributor

REAL HOUSEWIVES OF BEVERLY HILLS star Teddi Mellencamp gave fans a health update after revealing her Stage 2 melanoma diagnosis.

Mellencamp underwent surgery to remove some cancerous moles and shared a photo of her back and surgery scar.

“Yesterday, I had surgery,” she captioned the picture. “I had melanomas removed. I had lymph nodes that lit up so they were also removed and additional biopsies are being done. Hopefully I will get those results soon.”

“Next Wednesday I will get a full genetic mutation testing done for BRCA2, etc. I don’t share this for sympathy- I am sharing because one of the things that keeps me going through all of this is your messages telling me you are getting tested,” Mellencamp wrote.

She went on to say that she is “grateful” for her loved ones, and said she would beat cancer “with the help of my incredible doctors and nurses.”

“I will do my best to answer any questions you may have as they come up,” Mellencamp told fans. “I am giving myself permission to crash on the days I need to and work my butt off on the rest, showing up for me, my family and all my streams of work to reach new goals. Life comes in waves and we will always be stronger for it… on the good days and the bad.”

Reality TV star Teddi Mellencamp recently updated fans on her melanoma diagnosis after surgeons postponed a removal surgery.

Mellencamp revealed that doctors discovered more melanoma and said she would pursue a PET scan to find out “how far the cancer has spread.”

Despite what many would call a setback, Mellencamp said she relies on her faith and support from friends and family.

“I have faith and lots of support from friends, family, doctors and surgeons that all will be ok,” she wrote in a recent Instagram post.

“Something in me is making me want to continue to share this personal information because I want to continue to reiterate the importance of getting your skin checks,” she added.

In another update post, she wrote: “Thanks for all your comments and prayers on what I thought was going to be my melanoma removal today. Right before I left for NYC they took 2 additional adjacent moles and biopsied them to be safe. While I was away, those results also came back melanoma.”

“Due to so many melanoma’s [sic] in one are they are worried to cut in there and try to remove because they aren’t sure what they would be cutting into,” she said. “This morning I have a PET scan. A PET scan can show how well certain parts of your body are working, rather than simply showing what they look like. PET scans are particularly helpful for investigating confirmed cases of cancer to determine how far the cancer has spread.”

The 41-year-old mother of three said that once doctors understand the extent of the cancer, they can pursue a variety of treatments.

“Once you have a better understanding of the disease, the next step is talking about your treatment,” she wrote. . “Your doctor will determine your treatment plan based on the other factors of your disease, your age, and your ability to tolerate treatment.”
