It looks like everyone wants a PARENT TRAP sequel — including star Dennis Quaid!

“It’s just the number one [thing people ask me about]. It really is,” the actor told Parade. “It’s the number one, and they’re not bugging me. Thank God for PARENT TRAP. Really, it’s got so many people. I think we’re going, since we made it, now we have like three generations of kids who saw it 40 times.”

Quaid said he would “love to” do a sequel but added, “I don’t see how we could do it without Natasha [Richardson]. She’s not here anymore, but, you know, God bless her.”

Richardson died in 2009 after a skiing accident. She was 45 years old.

The actor previously spoke about not wanting to do a sequel without Richardson, telling Business Insider, “There had been some talk, but it would be impossible to do now…I don’t think we’d have the heart for it. Maybe one day, another version will be made for another generation. We all still miss Natasha.”

Quaid isn’t the only PARENT TRAP star who has expressed interest in returning for another movie.

At the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, actress Elaine Hendrix told PEOPLE, “A lot of people talk about it. A lot of people want it. We’re totally game. I think we’re just waiting.”

Lisa Ann Walter, who attended the show with Hendrix, joked, “I mean, are you listening, Disney?”

“I think Lindsay may have already [called Disney],” she added, referring to PARENT TRAP star Lindsay Lohan, but said, “I can neither confirm nor deny.”

In a 2025 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Hendrix spoke further about the potential for a PARENT TRAP sequel.

“There are always rumors. I don’t know where they come from. I think it’s mostly [from] fans who would love to see that,” she said, admitting that she’s unsure how her character would return for another installment — “How would you bring Meredith Blake back into the sequel?”

The actress continued, “But, I’d be so crushed if she wasn’t part of a sequel,” adding that she would “hands down, in the right situation” sign on for a sequel.

“I’d totally be into it. I loved it, that was a great experience from A to Z,” Hendrix finished.

A PARENT TRAP sequel is still just a dream for fans, but it’s clear the stars of the movie are more than ready to reprise their roles.
