Tim Allen, Jay Leno Reunite in Must-See Video

LAST MAN STANDING star Tim Allen recently appeared on Jay Leno’s YouTube channel, and the two talked about Allen’s Ford RS200.

“A very rare car we’re featuring today a 1986 Ford RS200…there’s a whole story behind why these are huge in Europe, Asia. It never quite caught on in America,” Leno began.

The friends compared notes on the car.

Allen shared the devastating reason why the car lost popularity shortly after it was created.

“The sad thing is… that in ’86, I believe in Portugal, the Group B version of this…horribly slams into 11 people and kills three of them. Three to six died or something like that it was in 86 some children involved in that. The rally system, this whole Group B unlimited I think went away,” he explained.

Despite the tragedy, Allen was interested in collecting one of these cars.

After the accident, “Ford was stuck with 250 [of these cars]. I’m sitting there, and I said ‘Hey I read about it. I want to go buy one.’ It wasn’t really thinking about rules and regulations it took a long time to get it back the States,” the actor added.

Carscoops.com shared a little more information about this peculiar car.

“Instead of basing its Group B rally racer on a current production car, the RS200 was a bespoke creation specifically for rallying,” the website explained. “As such, the homologation special doesn’t share any tie to a then-current production car from Ford. While the engine in the streetcar isn’t anywhere near as powerful as the fire-breathing one from the rally car, the rest of the setup is nearly identical.”

Allen and Leno then took it out for a drive.

“This thing is great,” Leno said. “This thing is incredible with 250 (horsepower).”

Allen and Leno collect cars, and carhp.com reported, “Both Jay Leno and Tim Allen share a common passion for cars and have huge car collections valued at millions of dollars.”

This common ground has led the two celebrities to share friendship and conversation that often revolves around their collector cars.

Movieguide® previously reported on Allen:

In a recent sit down with the women of daytime Television, Funnyman Tim Allen told THE VIEW, “[PC culture] is an alarming thing for comedians.”

Allen joined THE VIEW co-host Joy Behar as they reminisced on their comedy careers, which began in the 1980s.

Allen believes that nowadays he needs to provide too much context to set up his routines.

“What I got to do sometimes is explain, which I hate, in big arenas, that this is a thought police thing, and I do not like it. But when I use these words, this is my intent behind those words.”
