Tim Tebow Takes His Fight Against Child Exploitation Abroad

By Movieguide® Contributor

Tim and Demi Tebow are fighting child exploitation abroad.

Last week, the couple met in the Netherlands at Europol to collaborate with the organization to protect children.

“@demitebow and I were so grateful for the opportunity to visit Eurpol’s Headquarters in The Hague, where we got to meet with Danny van Althuis and the team at Europol’s prestigious AP Twins, and support their efforts alongside HSI and ICMEC,” Tim posted on Instagram.

“32 investigators from around the world gathered at Europol for a weeklong sprint operation to investigate producers and distributors of child sexual exploitation material through live-streaming platforms,” he explained. “Some of the abused children are believed to be as young as three to four years of age.”

Europol added that the sprint brought representatives from Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Norway, the United Kingdom and the United States together.

Tim revealed that investigators analyzed “Tens of thousands of child sexual exploitation images and videos” and “More than 10 million lines of online conversations between approximately 12,000 unique criminal customer accounts and 100 seller accounts.”

“Live-streamed child sexual abuse is a growing industry, involving child traffickers in the Philippines and elsewhere who curate a vetted customer base of buyers who pay to watch the live-streamed abuse of children,” Europol explained.

“Criminal buyers direct child traffickers to perform acts of sexual abuse on minor children in real time during private webcam interactions. Customers also travel to the Philippines to engage in the hands-on abuse of victimized children themselves,” the organization added.

The result of the investigation? “The operational sprint resulted in the production of information packages, which may lead national authorities of 24 countries to 197 buyers of live distant child abuse,” Europol said.

Many Instagram users thanked the Tebows for their work and shared their sorrow over the horrific things happening in the world.

“Heartbreaking ? to hear about these stories. Thank you for using your unique platform for good. ??” one user said.

Another person commented, “Thank you for giving a voice to the helpless and bringing this atrocity to the forefront. God bless you and all those fighting for these children.”

Fighting child exploitation is just one aspect of the former NFL star’s foundation.

The Time Tebow Foundation aims to serve the MVPs — Most Vulnerable People — around the world.

“Since 2010, TTF has been answering that call and fighting to bring Faith, Hope and Love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need,” the foundation’s website explains. “Having impacted lives in 86 nations and counting, TTF continues to pursue the vision of finding, reaching, and fighting for the Most Vulnerable People in every country worldwide, while sharing with them about the God who created them in His own image and who loves them with a perfect and lasting love.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Tebow’s work fighting human trafficking:

Through his father’s good work, Tebow became aware of the prevalence of human trafficking and the fact that not enough is being done to fight it. When he started his Tim Tebow Foundation, one of the first things Tebow did was set up a leg of the non-profit to combat human trafficking.

In the ten years since, the foundation has reached 30 countries, built 29 safe homes with 27 more currently under construction, led 5 USA-based operations in conjunction with law enforcement and built four USA-based safe houses. Last year alone, these safe houses provided over 8,000 safe nights to those rescued.

“While we are grateful for the impact we have had, I can’t help but feel that we are at a point in history–a point just like the one my dad faced years ago–where we cannot stand silently and passively watch as evil rages on,” Tebow said. “We need to go faster. We need to reach more!”

In March, Tebow testified before Congress, urging them to create a task force to combat human trafficking in America. Through his testimony, he explained how there are thousands of good men and women pouring their lives into fighting human trafficking, but they do not have enough resources or manpower to make a serious dent in the evil. Human trafficking is a multi-billion-dollar business, and those fighting it need serious resources to stand toe-to-toe with traffickers.
